I suppose it was only a matter of time...

POLI-SCI-FI-TICS HIT THE HILL

WASHINGTON D.C. -- As political divisions continue to drive both Democrats and Republicans to greater acts of partisanship, another age old debate has reentered the fore. The last election really showcased how social issues can mobilize certain demographics that otherwise wouldnt turn out to the polls. Its only natural that the Republicans would position themselves as the STAR WARS party, said political analyst BILLY BENDER. Lets face it, REVENGE OF THE SITH was a huge hit, and what with its black and white, pseudo-religious themes, its fertile ground from which to cultivate a new conservative base.

But not to be outdone, today DNC Chairman HOWARD DEAN announced that the Democrats would work to woo STAR TREK voters (Trekkies or Trekkers, depending on your source) into his party. Let those Denebian Slime Devils have their child-molesting Jedis. Star Trek embodies the hopes and dreams of the Democratic Party; a future free from poverty, sickness and war. Its amazing to me that I have to explain the superiority of that vision But then again, these are people who worship at the temple of Jar Jar Binks, so what are you gonna do? (awkward pause) RAAAWWWR!!!

Firing back, White House Press Secretary SCOTT McCLELLAN had this to say: Well that comment is typical of the latent racism you find in the Democratic Party. Jar Jar Binks is a misunderstood character, yes, but he deserves to have a voice. The Republican Party is a party for all Americans Amphibian or otherwise.

McClellan then went on to characterize Star Trek as Utopian balderdash. No disease, no poverty, blah, blah, blah Yeah right Have you ever noticed how we never see ordinary people in Star Trek? You know why? There are none! We only see the little commies and thats really what they are flying around the universe in their tax-payer funded starships, bringing more planets under the yoke of some bloated, bureaucratic federation so that they can spread the enormous costs of their socialist healthcare system over more planets!

Livid, Dean responded, Thats just irresponsible. It may be a foreign concept to those Neanderthals, but men like James T. Kirk and Jean Luc Picard understand a little something about self-sacrifice for the common good. But McClellan just laughed. Sorry, but my heroes are guys like Han Solo, a self-made small business man, and Luke Skywalker, a hard-working farm boy.

When asked to comment on the debate, PRESIDENT BUSH had this to say: I dont get out to the movies much and I never was much of a Star Track [sic] fan But did any a you see that TEAM AMERICA? Woo-hoo! Now that was a damn good flick. (sings) America! FUCK YEAH!!!

I think Star Trek has the superior technology and therefore would have the upper hand in any engagement. I wonder though who the rebellion would side with....
