PRESIDENT BACKS AMNESTY FOR HOBBITS
-Washington D.C.
In a move which has split the Republican base, President Bush today proposed a work visa program for Hobbits. Coming from their native region known as the Shire, Hobbit emigration has increased tenfold in the last three years.
Its not surprising, said labor analyst GIL BILKEN. The Shire is a great tourist destination, but the Hobbits were slow to build infrastructure and their economy is on the verge of collapse. I mean, this is the twenty-first century and theyre still using the barter system They dont even take travelers checks. Its only natural that Hobbits would come to the United States for a better life. Indeed, the Shire, once known for its serene rolling hills and peaceful ambience, has been on a steady decline for the last fifty years. We knew bad times were upon us when the Green Dragon became a topless pub, said Hobbiton mayor WILDO FRUMPKIN. Its sad having to watch the younglings peddle Chicklets to the passing travelers.
Though many of the U.S.s agricultural states welcomed the move, as Hobbits are renowned for their horticultural skill, others are not so pleased. RUDY FERNANDEZ, spokesman for the Hispanic Immigration League, said, These Hobbits are taking the food right out of our childrens mouths, ya know? The coyotes (smugglers dealing in human traffic) wont even talk to us now. I mean, why bother when they can fit two or three Hobbits in a truck for every one of us? Its just not fair.
Sharing the sentiment, though for different reasons, DUANE McTIGER of the American Border League said, It aint all about wanting a better life. Lot a these Hobs dont even try to assimilate. They take over whole neighborhoods, just sittin on their porches, smokin their pipe weed and drinkin beer all day Theyre fat little f**kers.
Indeed, though Hobbits are traditionally known as honest and hardworking, many are finding it difficult adjusting to American life. Well, its always hardest on the children, isnt it, said JUDITH JUJINSKI of the Department of Education. The schools are where children first learn their social skills, but due to the Hobbits how shall I say, physical uniqueness(?), many are having trouble adapting. And as they cant play traditional sports like football, and certainly not basketball, weve had to eliminate competitive sports altogether in schools with large Hobbit attendance which has stirred some negative feelings among the other students and their parents. But as I always say, fairness has nothing to do with you.
These divisions have prompted many of the younger Hobbits to form their own social circles, which some law enforcement agencies are now characterizing as gangs. It started out pretty typical: tagging, vandalism cabbage theft, said Iowa Police Commissioner GARY BURNS. But its gotten a lot worse lately. Dont let their height fool ya. They move in packs and theyre biters.
Though a congressional vote is still sometime off, the Presidents move has rekindled and elevated the immigration debate.

Yes, I'm curious to know what you think about the CD.

Funny you should mention it, but we decided to start reading the Hobbit to our son when he's a little older. Then, of course, we'll read the rest of the books to him. Right now, he can't sit still for the duration of a Dr. Seuss book.
