my dentist is a freaking nut job, good at what he does, but definitely a headcase.
managed to make it to my appointment with little time to spare. was lacking a wee bit in the motivation department when it came to getting out of bed this morning. oops...
either way, i make it there on time only to wait in the lobby for an extra hour and then some. maybe the first 15 min were occupied by nicole kidman in people magazine, but after that i settled back to daydream, much to the chagrin of the receptionist. she probably thought i was catatonic, sitting there all slack-jawed and glassy eyed. hot.
either way, when i finally made it into the chair the real circus began. the dentist applied the topical anesthetic (oddly reminiscent of cherries...) and made me sit with that in my mouth for a while. then he came back and started the needle jab. how about a little HALLELUJAH for modern dentistry? i didn't feel the shots at all. not even when i jumped because the assistant shot me in the neck with water when she tried to manhandle the instruments.
as he continued to work, my dentist went on to describe how little sleep he had gotten that last night and how dyslexic it was making him all the while having a hard time enunciating ANYWAY.
at this point i started wondering if he'd been hitting the nitrous which immediately made me think of little shop of horrors. THEN, coincidentally enough, the dentist himself brought up that movie.
bjork was playing in the office and for some reason that made him think of one of the songs in LSOH. don't ask me why.
amidst other such foolishness, my cavities actually got filled, and from what i can tell, he did a good job. good thing, i've got another appointment in a month...
