today.... today i was almost an hour late to work because i must have turned my alarm off in my sleep. no good considering i'm kissing ass in a major way to try and make this position more than temporary. by the time i got there, i was pretty pissed off at myself.
work, fortunately, was alright. busy enough to make it go quickly, but not so busy that it was frantic.
after work i had a 'band practice', i guess. some guys that i've been talking band with for a couple weeks came over to teach me some of their songs. this was kind of a big deal for me considering that one of my BIG hang-ups is playing in front of other people. ESPECIALLY when i don't have music in front of me.
fortunately, mr. band #1 is a very easy going guy and knows how to make people feel comfortable. playing was no problem and i picked up the bass lines pretty quickly. the only difficulty i had was when he asked me to sing. his buddy had to leave the room for a little while, but he took it like a champ.
either way, for the most part it went well, and now i'm not only stoked about being a band (!), but also because i'm working on something that's held me back in the past. don't we all feel warm and fuzzy inside now. everyone pat yourselves on the back. there you go....

rock on for gettin over yer nervousness. i've been playing guitar for like 12 years but i'm still a nerd when it comes to singing in front of people. i'm supposed to sing a few songs with the band i'm with now but have yet to bring myself to do it. i'm waiting for there to be beer at practice, so i'll hold off on patting myself on the back.
