yay, another day of work. i'm currently on day 8 of my 22 day work stretch and if the rest of it is as slow as yesterday was, i might have to kill someone just to liven things up a little. though, i shouldn't really complain about getting paid to read a tom robbins book, but.... you know.
i had the greatest time last night. Abra, myself and some of our friends all ended up at this 'thing'. i have no idea why it was put on since they weren't collecting money for it, but they did hand out flyers.
ANYway, when we arrived we found a screen set up in the backyard in front of which were blankets on the ground and a few folding chairs. we'd been encouraged to bring our own booze so we sipped on 20's of becks and the like while watching taiwanese music videos, aphex twin's 'windowlicker', (one of the most disturbing videos i've ever seen) and then some humphrey bogart film. it was a rad fucking time.
i may never have mentioned it before, but one of my favorite things is watching movies outside. call me a product of culture that breeds short attention-spanned, nature hating neophytes, but there's just something about being able to sit outside and enjoy the weather while watching something with your friends. it completely changes the dynamic.
either way, it was especially cool being out there, NOT surrounded completely by the hipster-scenester crowd in the town that i've already grown to dislike, cuddling up with my friends under a blanket, drinking a beer, smoking and cigarette and providing a mystery science theater sub-banter to film noir.
i hope they throw another one before the summer is over.

redneck70:
I was wondering if you'd pass the word around SGeugene that the "Dub Tee" group is looking for members who enjoy the slightly less sophisticated trappings of the redneck lifestyle. AKA, beer, guns, fishin', 80's buttrock, muscle cars, etc... Thanks.
