Just that I've heard good things from foreign residents either living or visiting there. I'll actually be going to Fukuoka next month for a weekend academic conference, and so will be able to give a more accurate assesment then.
A friend of mine who spent a considerable amount of time in Medicine Hat, Alberta thought it apt to nickname the city 'Hell'. I have no objection with this, considering that most of the population consists of migrant labourers and retired seniors from Saskatchewan. If you're looking for an alternative youth culture in that city, you're SOL.
