I used to think people who fumbled with superstition (not spirit) were seeking control, but I had a kind of epiphany and realized they are looking for symmetry and ultimately, a deeper balance. (Think OCD.) The human being craves balance to live in the natural world. Fractals, the environment, individual biosystems shift like kids with full bladders, using whatever device available to achieve the prize of balance.
Symmetry is the first step and the ultimate result.
Anything in the universe that will persist craves balance.
Extremes burn with ephemeral beauty; symmetry and balance persist, elegant.
