Except for peak moments of perspective - staring into canyons, climbing mountains - most people perceive themselves as equal in size to the rest of the universe. It may be this that allows us to face the world head on. What do you think?

Hmmm...Interesting.
I think the issue may be more rooted in the notion that most people fight for self-importance....ill-prepared to the world from their upbringing. This issue will most likely become an even larger problem in the coming years because todays society is raising children oblivious to the world outside their JUMBO family car. Over-protection of the young ones doesnt exactly help them., it cripples kids. Industry gears so much attention on creating the enlarged buffer zones around children as though they had eggshell craniums.
In other words, climbing mountains and diving into canyons heightens one's perspective of how each is but a grain of sand... rather than create a 'larger than life complex' , this discovery may be more connected with learning humility. From there, we see that each "grain of sand" has more power in the world than just being a grain of sand nested in a world of boulders.
i dont know......maybe im still sleeping and i didnt even answer the question you pondered?

Hmmm - I feel just the opposite..I have always felt very small and insignifacant in the world and universe. and wondered what good can I do or is there any importance to my igsistance at all. I do beleive we affect others throughout our lives and will never know the effect we have on the world.. but when you consider how many lives are effected at one point or another by even one life maybe in the grand scheme of things or as a part of a series of events one person will be inspired to greatness in on form or another that will effect many lives and wow am iI rambling I hope you can get the jist of that..
