I have to write my senior project this quarter. Right now I'm working on some fiction about young skinheads. Not sure entirely where that's going. Wrote one pretty decent short story about the set of characters. I need a collection of short stories or a novel or portion thereof for the project. I will probably expand it into a novel because the second short story I'm writing is ballooning out of control into not so short story territory.

I'm also in a poetry workshop this quarter which is weird because I haven;t really written poetry since I was in high school. I enjoy reading it some, but I can't stand poetry readings and writing it is a huge task most of the time. It's been a fun class so far though.

My third class this quarter is the Heroic Epic. It is great. We're reading the Iliad right now (Lattimore translation) and later we're reading an Irish epic called the Cattle Raid at Cooley which I'm really excited about. Epic poetry is like the greatest thing ever. Violence, homoeroticism, mythic beasts. It is the pre-Christ Iron Maiden.
