Australia is fucking incredible. It's even more amazing than I expected.

Okay. So we spent our first 5 days in Sydney. We stayed near Kings Cross. Sydney is really cosmopolitan - shiny and fast paced and expensive. The architecture is a mix of super futuristic buildings and very old colonial buildings. It has a LOT of tourist stuff - Taronga Zoo, the Opera House, Sydney Harbor Bridge, the aquarium. Plus all sorts of parks and shopping districts. Sydney is one of the gayest cities in the world - it has a bigger gay community than San Francisco, and is home to the biggest pride gathering in the Southern Hemisphere, which we missed by one week.

Another thing I noticed is the people in Sydney are very into clothes and looking good. Almost every woman I saw under age 40 had perfect hair, makeup, and nails. Most young people are thin and fit. At night all the women wear insanely high heels and short dresses, very on trend. Australian fashion seasons seem to be summer and winter instead of spring and fall although I am not certain about that. Clothes are about twice as expensive in Sydney as they are in San Francisco.

I wanted to get a picture of some flying foxes but failed. I also did not get any good pictures of the giant Coca Cola sign in Kings Cross. Elichrusos asked me why I wanted a picture, and I guess it's because it is just like the huge Coke ad above the freeway in SF. I suppose I am a trifle homesick.

Here is the most handsome man in the world at Manly Beach. We went there on the first day, when we were horribly jet lagged and exhausted from the 14 hour flight. Manly is so pretty, and it was so hot. Things here are familiar yet alien, like a parallel universe.

While in Sydney we spent some time with TheFuckOffKid, BeaEffEff and her lovely husband whose member name I do not recall, PlatyPuz who has one of the most interesting jobs I've ever heard of, and Elichrusos who is as dear in reality as she is online. Thus far in Melbourne we've spent a day with MissShel and an evening with PeggySue, and hopefully more with both! If I were to move to Australia I would be most chuffed to end up in Melbourne. More on that later.

This statue cracked me up. It's a drooling boar with a big ol' peener. The plaque says to rub its snout for good luck. For some reason it is in front of Sydney Hospital. Sydney has some rad public art.

More another day, after I've edited and uploaded more pictures and videos.
