everyone should check out mediawatch.com because it is amazing. ann simonton spoke in my feminism class about the way women are treated in the media, and it definitely reinforced my feeling that we are treated like animals, sex slaves and objects by people trying to sell things. ugh, some of the images are just unbelievable. at least there are some places like sg where we can express our sexuality without being turned into blow up dolls.

Also, illy, as to your last comment in your first post, I don't think men would like it very much if there was a huge market for their naked flesh and almost none for their intellect or talent. That is objectification in the truest sense.

It is hard for me to see the world through your eyes, but I will do my best to be sympathetic to what it must be like. I can only speak from my experience, and in my experience there is no market for my intellect or my looks, just my technical skills (which have nothing to do with my intelligence) and my money...

Sure it is easy for a guy to say "Gee I wish I could pose nude and have people clamor all over me and pay me money!" but if it made me feel like I was good for nothing else, it would hurt a lot. So, I am glad you don't feel that way here.

My original question had more to do with where you drew the line between that which is being objectified for money and that which is being objectified in the name of art. These women, as you said who are "treated like animals, sex slaves and objects by people trying to sell things." well who are WE to say they have a problem with it? Maybe they feel the same way you do about being here? It was just something to think about, I know you don't come on here to debate this kind of stuff with people like me. Just being a trouble maker as usual, ignore the man behind the curtain... wink
