Written for the Winter Solstice and times long forgotten,
This is the shortest darkest day of the year, winter begins. In better times we would celebrate the passing of the seasons possibly through yule, or one of the numberless possibilities once existing when peoples thriving in separate isolations envisioned and created pure untainted beliefs in harmony with the surrounding land. A plague soon accounted for the demise of countless millions over many centuries continuing up to the present, it would also transform the world its reaches enough to corrupt the americas as well but obviously most prevalent in europe from which it originated. It gained a steadfast hold which still remains a dominating force, but now a shadow of the physical force it once was, a commercialized presidentialy endorsed sickness of mind in our "land of freedom". When put in the hands of those who took it by pain of torture and death, the world has suffered more natural loss than at any other time in history. The common man or woman likes to promote the "good values" we should all be inspired to conform to inherent in the bible, faith had replaced the reason and logic of a dominate number of people spread everywhere throughout the west. The christian perversion of Pagans* sacred beliefs was the first offense to a once beautiful people flowering with even more imaginative, sometimes primal, yet wise beliefs which helped them understand the world abroad and live in harmony amongst themselves and their land. Good and evil were both recognized as necessary, a balance in the universe inherent in all men and even beasts since the dawn of time. This understanding apparent in their polytheistic beliefs in which many of the gods and goddesses shared human temptations and fallacies.
After their luring and forced capitulation toward christian belief, with fabricated holidays and dates "coincidentally" falling within 3-4 days of the then current Pagan holidays and festivals. The pagans then suffered through the catholic and protestant reformations which eradicated any last overtly Pagan elements which had been incorporated into christian practice thus far. In their removal, their ownership and celebration of these holidays as christian holidays was now complete. Now in its newer commercialized state, these holidays have gone on again to metamorphose into a financial institution, moreover a reason to spend and sell to our hearts content. A system now practically impossible to avoid taking part in, unless living in isolation outside of society. This idea, obviously not encouraged or promoted at all, we are bred and raised to become a working part of this corporate society and an independent self-sufficiency is becoming more and more like everything else, history. One of the small comforts we have in all of this is the only true traditions we've retained, the adorning of trees, exchange of gifts, gatherings in celebration and indulgence. In conclusion I give hail to the Goddesses, and Gods of old and the specters of their practitioners first and foremost. Let us now celebrate the endless cold of a world without purity and innocence any longer, peoples destroyed and buried, but in my heart and mind never forgotten. With pale shades of what once was to guide us, blindly following instincts of corruption humanity continues on its permanent downward spiral into an abyss of its own creation.
With boundless and timeless misanthropy toward man,
But goodwill toward those who see beyond the veil
IV
*A term created and used by christians to refer to a wide variety of sometimes incompatible religions, never adopted by those who practiced the supposed "Paganism" until modern times. It seems to defeat the purpose of honoring those practices and people of old under a banner created by those who destroyed the very same people.
