"back in 2000 I went to DC for the imf protests and on the way back we visted Arlington national cemetary. Arlington is a very special place for me. I had an Uncle at Chosen Resovior, my dad was draft and sent to vietnam, another great uncle at Iwo Jima and supposedly a granfather and great grand father in the two world wars. I havn't signed up but I have promised to if there is a draft. so when I walk among the soldiers who died in the service of the republic it is important to me. it is a communion. and I had this kid with me named justice and justice responded to my respect of the place with something like, alot of idiots who died for nothing. justice thought he knew and for all his yoga and herbal remedies and fuzzy wamr belief he was full of shit to me forever after because he said that.

so this whole exchange is really about you talking about peadophilla as if it was an academic idea like the nature of black holes or what happens if you go back in time and meet yourself. but peadophillia is real and it has conseqeunces and you marginilise them while pushing forward a culteral/moral relativity argument which cannot be defended once you look at the common good. that is what this is about."

I can understand and symapthise with your sense of duty due to your family relations. A lot of wars are unnnecasary but I respect the passion of those soldiers involved on both sides. Justices honesty ought to be respected tho and is yet again a fine example of your judgemental way. "Nap, he's wrong, fuckem. I will not see the other side of this, I'm right." War brings out many good things in people and hopefully that we'll soon see how rediculous it is to go war. Yes there have been good causes for war. Stop seeing me as so limited. You just don't know me well enuff throw the sorts of comments you do in my direction. Yes some of my statements are brief and unexplained but that doesn't mean I can't explain them. Because you've sed things like "...are you going to read nice books to paedophiles till they promise not to do it again... etc" I really can't be bothered explaining jack to you. I love leaving you thinking me stupid because it just shows how rediculous your approach to life is. "Everyone is limited except me. "They're in that box- bullshit religion claptrapers, etc, etc." Is that not a bigot? Maybe it's the wrong word but the essence? A hypocrite? I've pointed it out to you before.
Studying philosophy has not made you wise. You have information. Some wisdom. But simply I have seen and experienced a very different type of life that has seen extremes of compassion and miracles and a lot of unnecesary suffering and stubborn stances taken. Often by myself, but also those around me. As I've sed a few times you wont understand that depth till you've dug yourself deep into hell and pull yourself out the otherside. It will crush you. It crushes everyone, no exception.
A freind I knew well is or was, it's been years since we spoke, a paedophile, well in your opinion. He had trouble dealing with his shit due to circumstnces. But he showed me so much faith in God, I started to wonder what the hell faith was at all. He's a great guy, nothing bad about him at all. It's an individual thing. That's why it can't be judged. Every human is as deep as the next. Do not take this as "paedophile showed me faith so... ". Is that your brain I can hear ticking from here?
So it's about giving the problem the respect and attention it deserves rather than saying, "Go to war it's your duty because of democracy". There is simplicity in all things but that approach is more like a cop out. Compassion is true simplicity when looked at correctly and no god is needed for it. With compassion we see a greater truth in all things becasue compassion takes patience and tolerance. Somtimes it's right for a soul to be killed, but I don't think tortured. Cruelty and suffereing does create an energy that affects all things. I don't know if scientist are measuring such things but the aura photos have been around a long time now. MOst indigenous people have a much greater undrstanding of such metaphysics and care for the land. Yes it's o.k. to eat meat in my book. A change could mean a better combination or buying organic. Am I still as limited, gee I hope not.
Veganism is the most sustainable and compassionate diet. Yes there are other similar diets. Meat costs a lot to produce and offers no more nutritional benefits. Is McDonald's are caring sharing bunch? and cigarettes and alcohol and so and so. Good people are involved in all these things.
People are involved in spiritual research be it Bhuddism, Zen, Toa, Hindu, even Christian and Muslim people are becoming less dogmatic and searching deeper as meditating which the religions don't mention as a means to know God. You do realise God is self? Romantic as you may percieve or you've probably got some niggling aversion to this sort of wording. The recent twin towers and the likes are great for this sort of thing. America will go thru more of this to be sure. It has hurt a lot of innocent people out of fear of exposure and greed. Sure democracy is great but there's no white people in America with the near genocide of the natives and altho there's a lot of bling in hip hop these days I don't think 400 yrs of slavery has been forgoten. I heard a on a fela kuti Red Hot tribute saying "next time it's gonna be more than a riot". I can think of better things to happen but it's likely inevitable.

Did you not sum it up for us with the beam in your brothers eye quote? maybe you don't understand that. Oh you think because you're not a paedophile you can judge. I'm not poverty stricken can I can judge a poor person for stealing? Damn why is it my examples work so much better than yours? I haven't studied anything but pamphlets. You arn't better than anyone. you have much to offer, a huge drive, but you're very bitter, don't let it take from the sweetness of your heart. The most helpful direction is often as potentially corny sounding as that. Delivered with sincerety it can't be argued. I'm not better than you in any way but I have developed certain quailities more. You'll probably disagree and discredit me with weak remarks unaware I don't need your acceptance. When you've had the whole world laugh at you and clean all the shit off and realise like that Pearl Jam song Alive that you just move on. or face it courage or rather you realise tha's what courage is so long as approach yourself with sincerety in search for authenticity. You might call it observing the tao, but when I do it it's half hearted, right?
I remind you of a 13 yr anarchist? whatever
You remind me of me when I was even more opinionated then I am now and thought my opinion mattered. Your study in philosophy will only help yourself. Is that a secret amongst philosphers? So your selfish even if it's not your intention. Do you like KRS ONE? I'm a huge fan. keep going with that socrates qoute "I know because I don't know" or sumpin wink

Your perception of whether I'm wrong or full of claptrap and so on is so irrelevant to me and everything and that totally contradicts your perception of the Tao you hold so dear. The Universe "is". Well doesn't that mean enjoy it for what it is, accept it for what it is? And your all "I'm wrong". You jump on a "he must perceive it like this" and give several examples of how you're so sure I'm thinking because you met some people in Ashville. Who gives a shit if I live in NZ. Sure it influences me and my world veiw. I see beauty evrywhere and I don't mean the lush greenness or chiiled people. As much harshness occurs here as anywhere.
you have consistently implied that I'm a fool in an endeavour to prove you're right, my little snowflake. I've seen Fight Cub and don't care what you might think I should get from it. Does it say anymore than "City of God" or "Titanic"?
Okay, individuals don't need to speak up as such. A change in a persons diet and idea of responsibility to self and "society" makes a huge impact on the world. But the change in the individuals care for self will be infinitely more satisfying than their "duty". There is no duty. This is where it happens right here in me. The I that just is. I do make up society. I would prefer a society that is more autonomous and compassionate. But like you say pain &suffering are constant and part of what encourages one to grow.
"to concentrate on the self avoids responsibilty. and that really bothers me." Where do you get this shit from? I can't be bothered giving an example of why that's crap. What do you concentrate on other people? how is one supposed to better oneself or your lameass veiw of society if they don't concentrate on themself first and foremost.
Basically you have no idea of where I should start. i don't think anything is wrong. The universe does unfold just like a flower. otherwise it'd be day always and you'd always judgemental and not give others room to breathe in your little world. Sounds like stagnant Tao. It seems you saying compassion doesn't work. Is this thing not infinite?
I admit I'm rambling and not really interested any more. I'm full of claptrap and you can't get past your little boxes.
Ciao.
wink

That's rough. I also got dismissed from UNCA after being on warning for like 5 consecutive semesters, but they reinstated me because my grades were beginning to improve. Can you make another appeal?

You should come down to the Grey Eagle on Sat. Hope and Anchor (my favorite Asheville band) is having a CD release show. It starts like around 9pm.

Then we can wash our wounds in alcohol.

No doubt some people deserve to die as it is what is. And honestly I haven't read much research on sex offenders, so thanks for enlightening me on that.
My understanding tho would be be that if that methods of rehab aren't working then then new methods need to be installed. Western society is a very externally lived society. Methods of introspection force a person to confront themselves on their own terms and truly transform. If a person is willing to have thier nuts lopped they'd be willing to partake in these methods.
Crime in quotes cos what is the crime? This is a benefit for us all to learn and look deeper into ourselves. Calling the "paedophile" and "offender" as if we're seperate is a like saying "it's not my arm" it gangrene sets in.
Yes they've made choices and responsibility is theirs but like you sed most have been abused themselves. Until you've been in a similar situation you can't comprehend the depth of that suffering and how it drives a soul.
Respect is something your born with. Respect is something perceived and adhered to.
Judge not lest that ye shall be judged yourself.
Gotta, bro. biggrin

So ya got the quotes but not the wisdom.

"So once I am sure I have not commited pedophilia then I can say it is bad."

That's funny. You are aware of hypocrisy and have read a lot but then what happened?

My guess would be that you haven't suffered a great trauma, wept and pleaded for forgiveness only to discover that only you can forgive yorself.

A Clock work... only looks at the western outlook. till you realise you're suffering you'll not have the passion to burn for your freedom. "the passion of the Christ" any master, you'll not here them condemn another. Compassion and self discovery and internal work is what they speak of. The same method is what will free you and the paedophile of which there is no difference.

Sure you can take the piss. It's one of those issues where if you don't see eye to eye you're as bad as the deed. Do you want to only see all sides of situatuations that you want to see all sides of, walking araound half blind as ''you"see it, That is very likely not the truth of the situation. The actual truth is what is sort not conformity of tradition and belief. Whatever happens is what's appropriate you can tell becuase it happened and it's likely the truth that is endeavoured to be swept under the carpet with "just thro 'em in jail, tortore 'em, etc". Same goes for all "crimes".
Like I sed, I don't condone the paedophile but no more do I condone condemnation. There's a better way although, admittedly I don't know what it is, and so understanding, space, meditatation will assist.
Thanks. Take it easy.

"America when will you send your eggs to India?"

Funny/ sad story: There was a crop failure in NE India some time ago. The US govt. decides to save the day by sending in lots of surplus live chickens. Didn't go so well. Problem 1: The region is mostly vegan and doesn't have any interest in eating the chickens OR their eggs. Problem 2: Even if they wanted to eat them, they probably shouldn't, because most of them dropped dead on arrival due to the heat. Sounds like they put a lot of research into it and it had nothing to do with avoiding a saturated US market, right?
