1) Tell us a joke.

So, there were were, on the surface an unknown planet, lost. But Harry, he starts feeling around on all the trees, and he says "I know where we are, we on Pluto." So we say, "Harry, how can you tell?" "The bark you dummies, the bark...."

Now that we broke the ice, let's get to know you for round two...

@xheartswornx =) I love that joke. And if you can't find Jaynes somewhere, let me know, I'll send you my copy.

Good choice of concert. I saw them about a month after Dwayne passed, they still Rocked the House.

@ojtheviking and @kungfury tagged me for this one, sorry it's taken so long to finish!

1) Introduce yourself
Well, I'm Kevin. Born and grew up in Florida, lived in Central for most of that. Then, after meeting my wife (who lived in another part of the country at the time) started moving around. Ohio, Georgia, and then Germany. First to Nürnberg and then to Flensburg,...

@bluenicorn Thanks for taking the time to read through it. =)

Love this questionnaire.

The title of this post came from a participant today who asked me to explain the difference in English of "if" and "when." It's a question that comes up quite often, and we usually have a unit on it in the books we use, as the implications of exchanging them is pretty big for an experienced speaker of English, but doesn't have the same gravity

Silence: the absence of audio wallpaper vs. the Mind Being quiet. Both are separate states. Sometimes they do go hand in hand. At other times, either by itself, can be the respite to Sensory Overload. From my experience ( sitting in the Soundproof room for hearing tests ) true Audio Silence isn't possible: ya hear your breathing, the blood in your ears, skin on skin or fabric when ya move. ** I usually head to bed close to Sunrise, the quiet of the world waking up is reassuring: the house settling, leaves rustling, the space between bird calls - frogs - and even the before & after of a cars passage. ** Non-attachment to the Awareness of each perceptual instant is the challenge of not being cloistered off from the world. Be excellent.

Interesting, haha, but I need to read again more carefully because english is not my native language, but we have good thoughts and feelings here Xx

@ojtheviking I am, piece by piece, it's a lot better than it was last year this time, or even the years before that. I'm aware, and practicing. Not always on the ball, but also not beating myself up too much for it. I really appreciate you keeping an ear out though, there's a lot in knowing that it's there.
ojtheviking:
@therustycheez I agree, the security of knowing friends are willing to listen can be uplifting in and of itself. I don't mean to pry, nor make you answer anything here in a comment if you'd rather not openly discuss it, but I was just wondering, based on the way you compared it to this time last year, etc. Is there a significant date that affects you due to a bad memory or something?

This one goes out to @ojtheviking who asked what some of our favorite books, visually, are. And I thought it would just be easier to put the handful of pictures here rather than trying to link them off site.

So here we go!

These two books are among my favorites, both in content, and sweet, sweet typeset. 1776 by David McCullough and House of Leaves

They must be incredible books!

I'm about to re-read the house of leaves! I met Mark Z, at a book signing about 19 years, and now my copy has a huge big Z on the inside (on the this is not for you page)  :)    I've mostly moved to digital books as I'm on the road a lot, but there are a few books that need to be physical for me, and this one is an obvious one.

Hey there, it's been a few days since I posted anything. I hope everyone is doing okay, at least as good as you can.

Back when I was on IG, I used to post pictures of the oak tree that is on the back of my property as it went through the seasons, was one of my favorite little series that I did. I felt...

@zweitesich That's a really good guess, but no, she's in the city right now, the keys came from downtown Amsterdam.

Hey there everybody, me here. Things are good here in me-land, but been fighting this lingering bit of off-ness the past few weeks. I was going to write on Sunday about the things in my head, half a call for advice, half just a hey what's up, how's everyone doing, but the topic of my post was going to revolve around my Dad, and I
