Well, it's official. The old lady is dead.
I'll truly miss her. She had a hell of an impact on my life. And I loved her dearly.
The silver lining of this thundercloud is that now my grandfather will finally leave the house. He's lived within spitting distance of San Antonio for years and years and hasn't been anywhere in SA except to the doctor's office and one of the better golf courses where we dragged him to a Senior PGA Tour match. Now I'll be able to take him to see movies and shows and all kinds of things. He seriously would not leave my grandmother's side the entire time she was sick, and now that she's gone I hope that he'll get out and live a little. He's fucking earned it.
And Girly, I know what you mean. Everytime I smell whiskey or bourbon, I get that same feeling cause both grandparents on both sides of my family were heavy drinkers. Wild Turkey, actually. Ironic that they actually had something in common considering how different they were. Think I'll need to pick up a bottle of my own on the way home tonight. Though I appreciate the offer - truly.
Now I have to go to the bank and cash a check, then put gas in my truck, then pick up something at my Dad's house and head on out of town to visit with everybody while my grandma is cremating. I'm not looking forward to it. I've never been an emotional person (unless anger counts
), so being in situations like this is always awkward. Might have to start drinking a little early today. And could the weather be any fucking worse? Super hot, super muggy, and just sickening. Fuckin' hell, what a day for a death in the family....
