Is it odd that I am still so upset about the death of Mr. Rogers?
Seriously. I watch his show now and get this feeling of great sorrow, as though he were a recently deceased relative - like a grandfather you knew so well, but yet had so much still left to ask.
Right now I'm watching an episode with this big, black Pittsburg Steeler football player on who, on the side, is a ballerina. No shit. Apparently he studied ballet and dance long before he ever picked up a football. To watch this guy prance around with all these tiny ballerina's is classic.
That's what was so great about Mr. Rogers' show - he showed life as it was. He taught so much about life as it was, and not as the mainstream media and networks would have you believe. I often think of how his show would have been if it'd been picked up by CBS or NBC or, god forbid, Fox. Each scenario makes me sick to my stomach - envisioning a time where Mr. Rogers' was doing "sweeps shows" and trying to shock the audience so much they didn't dare NOT tune in the next week. No, Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood was PBS/KLRN at their paramount. The very best of public television.
God Bless Mr. Rogers. He was the father, grandfather, uncle, and best friend to so many of us who didn't have hope in our lives as children. Let's face it, most of the people on SG didn't have the best lives early on, and it was stuff like Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers' that showed us the brighter side of the world and gave us hope in our own future.
I love Mr. Rogers, he is truly my hero.

my business is managing properties. it's what i do. it's what pays my bills, it's how i make my living, and it's fast becoming how i define myself (be able to call oneself a businessman is a boost to self esteem not easily conveyed).
yet, my father asks me to watch ONE of his properties, and somehow i continually fuck it up, in ways that i don't with my others. i file the eviction paperwork wrong, then MISS the fucking court date. i repost their eviction, and put the wrong date and dollar amount on it. then i re-re-post it and, again, put the wrong date on it - though this time i wrote in the right number.
how do i keep fucking this one property up? is it some Freudian stab at his wife, whom I dislike personally? is it my way of sticking it to my cousin, who i recently fired - making sure she hears i keep fucking up so she can sit at home with a contended smile on her face only to later learn that i'm doing great?
seriously though, as objective as I can be, I think Kerry won the debate - no matter what the analyzers say (those who cannot do critique...that's why i critique movies
