is it just me or is This American Life on NPR the coolest fucking radio show ever? if it isn't, then fuck all ya'll - ya'll don't know what you're missing. ya'll. (hehehe, as a Texan I feel obligated to see how many times I can work ya'll into a sentence when I'm bored).
so Calaveras Lake kicks ass! thank god I bought that one year pass. i was out there again this morning doing a little night fishing. caught a few blue catfish, no keepers, and a wicked cool perch (don't tell anyone I said that, I am a notorious hater of perch - they are bait thieves...I liken them to the chihuahuas of the water - small, vicious and unloved by all but children). one of the catfish I caught the other day had a filet on it the size of a t-bone steak! yummy.
well, i need to go refill a perscription and drive waaaaay out of town to put up a for rent sign at one of the properties i manage. fortunately, now that i have the year pass for Calaveras (which is good at Braunig Lake too) I can stop at Braunig (which is literally right off the highway I'll be driving on - you can see the lake from the highway) and get my line wet for a little while. I'm dying to catch a red drum before they head into the deep, deep water. which raises a question - why the fuck does Texas stock a freshwater lake (well, they do it with several) with a saltwater fish like the red drum? i mean, the fish can survive in freshwater, but they can't spawn - so they restock every year.
