so i had this dream last night that a friend and i accidentally burned down his house and someone died, but the cops and judge that were trying us were all corrupt and were going to charge us with first degree murder or something; so i skipped town and drove down to the border. i ended up in Piedres Negras which was, in my dream, a million times cooler/cleaner than it is in real life; plus it was on the coast (which it isn't). i ended up living on the beach for a while, then spent all my time trying to find someone who'd sell me a Mexican identity (birth certificate and id) so I could go to university and learn better spanish and get a job in southern mexico on a tour boat or something.
oddly enough, i felt so happy once i was in mexico. not because i'd beat a bullshit murder charge, but because i was living my own life; doing my own thing. i was free, for some odd reason; my journey was now solidly in my hands. all the debts i had, all the arrangements i'd made, all the relationships i couldn't get out of - it was all behind me, never to return again. the only person who knew where i was was a buddy who'd come along with me and my father, who i'd told just because i knew he would worry. i love it when i have those weird dreams that last for hours because i keep waking up and rolling around (the only advantage of having an uncomfortable bed is the fact that it extends your dreams)
