I am a bicycling FIEND!!!
My pal Steve told me about a bike path that runs for like ever and doesnt intersect with traffic relatively near my house, so tonight I thought Id investigate...
I ended up riding my bike from my house on mill and university all the way to Hayden and Indian School... The whole thing took me about an hour and 20 minutes, and by the time I got home I gotta admit I was beat. I checked it out on mapquest, and I was totally disappointed to learn that it was only about 7.5 miles but then it hit me, "WAITAMINUTE! I rode my bike BACK HOME too! Thats like 15 miles!
15 MILES! WOW! There was hills and shit!
On my bikeride I reached a somewhat hypocritical epiphany about what makes a person special in relation to his fellow man. My belief is that the closest thing that you can have to "feeling special" is your own personal pride or respect, but the second you compare that pride to the state of others you lose your entitlement to any sort of said feeling and then it just becomes ignorant vanity. as I was following this train of thought I considered this epiphany to be a point of personal pride:
"My knowledge that I am enlightened to the true value of people and knowing that value is only found within the individual OBVIOUSLY sets me at a higher plane of being than the average ignorant citizen who shamefully----"
Fuck, now Im one of them, vainglorious and ignorant, like Icarus, I flew too close to the sun
