Betty Page
I saw the film "The Notorious Bettie Page" yesterday. I highly recommend it. I know that many SGs think of Bettie Page as a role model. Gretchen Moll is a wonderful actress. I'll have to dig up some of her earlier films.
The thing that is most striking about the film is how innocent the times were. Sexual repression was so heightened back then that the mere showing of a little cleavage was reason enough to enrage the moral guardians of society. The sixties blew the lid off that cover. If you've ever seen the Beatles play the Ed Sullivan show back in 1963 you can see how repressed sexual energy was manifested as hysteria among teenage girls.
I haven't had the opportunity to see a modern day burlesque show but I hope to in the near future. They are put on periodically in Boston. I believe some local SGs are active in burlesque.
I truly admire the SGs lack of self consciousness regarding their bodies. As one who is extremely self conscious myself I know how much courage it takes to disrobe for the public. And I understand the liberation that comes with expressing one's sexuality. Then again, I imagine there are some natural exhibitionists among the SGs. I wish that I could overcome my own inhibitions.
Its been two weeks since I became a member of SGs and I've been browsing site every day. The girls truly fascinate me and not entirely sure why. I think its a mixture of the exotic, the youth, the sexuality that arouses my inner fantasies. My libido had been on vacation for so long I didn't think it was ever coming back (but that's another story). Libido is a good thing. It motivates me to go back out into the real world and find some female compansionship again.
Wish me luck.
