Hmm. I know I found the film a tad more...shall we say lyrical than the book. Certainly the way the media of film always an image to hang in the mind contributes; the way the stark imagery of the landscape contrasted perfectly against the brief moments of horror. The book had sweeter characterizations and Eli's origin was one that I don't think I've ever seen before. I was also left with a better feeling of Oskar's future in the book than in the film. Still, I like both forms about equally.

My examples of films being better than the book are usually some combination of The Wizard of Oz, A Clockwork Orange, The Princess Bride, and Bladerunner. Generally speaking, of course, books tend to work out more often than films. Less cooks to spoil the soup, I suppose.
