So I went to lunch today at the Carl's jr down the road from my shop, I go there often so most of the girls know me. I order my usual and the girl says, I know you're a veteran, but I still need to see your v.a. card. I pull the card out of my wallet, and the woman behind says "oh here we go, another arrogant asshole who thinks he has a right to a discount on his food". I was kinda grouchy after getting beat up by a car earlier, so I had to say something. I turned around and said, first of all ma'am, it's not a "right". It's a privilege. Second, it's a privilege I EARNED by putting my life on the line in a war zone TWICE in the persian gulf in the early 90's to protect ignorant bitches like you. She says "oh, you're one of those who were too dumb to go to college. I couldn't hold my temper anymore and I went off. I graduated high school, served 4 years in the navy where I got an education better than any college could give me. I did go to college, and I graduated with a degree in automotive. I am an ASE certified MASTER mechanic and I guarantee I make more money in a year than you do. Well, she didn't have much to say after that. After I got my lunch I went out to my car, where I burst out in laughter because that was way out of character for me, I've never done that before. I just....... I really hate obnoxious, judgemental people. Especially ones who look down on those of us that volunteered to do things that haunt our dreams, all to protect your judgemental attitude.............. Okay, rant over.
