So, for the last several days I've been playing hookey from life because I've had this sickness, you know? It's like a cold, with lots of coughin and fever and just buckets full of snot. Snot that could fill a fucking bathtub. And it's yeller. Yeller as the setting sun. Anyway, I've got a gig tomorrow night, and as such, I'm hoping to god (or...

i'd say it's rebuilding at a normal pace. Some people thought it would take forever, others thought overnight. Obviously, it's been a long process. But every week more places are open, more people are back, and EVERYONE is supportive. it's really got a great feel to it--although it's gonna take a while to get back to what it was.

Hell, it hasnt even been a year. kinda crazy, considering how different everything is from a year ago...

biggrin i'm on top of it!

and no, not a major yet.

i'm leaning towards things that are all so different that i have no clue yet. I might go into business (if i can stand the thought) or finance (because i'm good at math-- that is, if i can stand the thought!). i would love podiatry, but med school sounds scary. i heard podiatrists dont go to med school though? which is also scary hehe... oh, and i LOVE geology. and gerontology.

see? numbers, money, rocks, feet, old people. thats why i'm taking such a twisted course load!

Today I finished recording the final track of my first album.

TODAY I FINISHED RECORDING THE FINAL TRACK OF MY FIRST ALBUM!!!!

I'm so fucking excited to have this first major step out of the way! Of course, now begins the interminable wait for it to be mixed and mastered, but I'm actually looking forward to being a part of that whole process as well...

Man, I sure hope so. I'm kind of massively retarded at relationships.

Which is I guess why I hinge my future upon board games.

So, I'm listening to various selections from the "Rent" soundrack right now. My former, Liz, visited me this last week and got me hooked on Rent and I feel like an uber dork, but I can't help but love it. And I also love Rosario Dawson more than ever. MY GOD! SO HOT!!!

In other news, I have two gigs coming up this week, and...

I had a bad dream last night that someone broke my guitar and didn't have the money to fix or replace it. Yuck. I'm not a fan of dreams like that.

Aww, thank you. I'm hoping to get myself as healthy as possible this year...I guess it's my very late-made New Year's Resolution. To focus on the stuff about me that might not be quite so healthy and make it better.

And ugh, I hate dreams like that too. Just be glad it was only a dream!
burningetae:
thank you smile

So, I hate tonight. I want terribly badly to make it as a musician, but tonight makes me wonder about the plausibility of doing that in Boston.

I have always shied away from heading toward larger markets like LA or New York because I always felt like there was too much to compete with. But tonight makes me feel like those may be my only...

I heard that Boston is pretty sweet. But then again....NYC would be a cool experience if nothing else. If you don't throw yourself into it, then who knows what could have happened? Go for it tongue

Boston may be your home, it may always be your home but that doesn't mean you can't attempt living elsewhere for a bit right? If it gets bad, you can always move back!

So I had to wander out into the nether region of East Boston today to pick up my new computer charger from DHL because my stupid apartment building's buzzer system doesn't work so I could never tell when the delivery guy was here to deliver it. It was a very cold day from which I have yet to recover. Cold, cold, cold. Anyway, I have...

I'm only updating this because it's been too long to have the same old shit up here. So, I've been busting my hump handing out demo CD's and calling people back and it's finally beginning to pay off! I have a gig this Saturday at the Abbey Lounge and then I'm playing the Midway on the 28th of this month.

The funny thing is that...

I get so sick and tired of seeing the same journal entry forever, too

No, just talking about my own journal entry and your "I'm only updating this because it's been too long to have the same old shit up here"

So I resisted and resisted and resisted, and then I finaly gave in. I started a MySpace page. A friend of mine has been using hers to promote her music and I kept hearing all sorts of good things about using it in such ways, so I broke down and set one up for myself. It's www.myspace.com/gabrielmireles and it has some of my recent recordings,...

I saw something on the Philadelphia City Paper about the Philly Roller Girls and so I started to check it out that way. I wrote a journal about it and Batty saw it and called me and told me I should join her league instead.

so I am now a proud member the Penn Jersey She Devils. I'm glad I went with them cause now that I know the history of the other team, I can guess I wouldn't have done well there.
morgan:
Me too, but I am very happy to have contacts again.

So the new SG Directory is up and it seems pretty cool. Maybe I should find some way to list my music up there. Anyway, the new job is going well and I'm making a little bit more money now, so that's always good. I just wish I had a lot of money right now. Humph. I've decided that I'm going to take a bunch...

Whoops! Seems like I went and let the ol' membership lapse! blush Oh well. Anyway, I'm finally done with my job at the guitar store and had a thoroughly enjoyable sendoff on Sunday night in which I got completely obliterated and probably only spent about $5. So after two restful days off, I'm going to start my new job today, or at least the training portion....

Hey, you're back! Sorry. I generally give people a week because I'm anal about that sort of thing.

But welcome back!
