Not drunk this time but tired as hell.

I've noticed that when I have many days off (my schedule has been off three, on two, off two, on two, off three, on two, off three, one one, off three; but remember, dammit, those are twelve-fourteen hour days) by the last set or so the days are horrible. For the last three days I think I've may have slept nine hours. I admit, today was my fault but it wasn't without reason...

paraphrased here but if you care the whole story is here

Got in touch with a friend that isn't a friend anymore (he used to have my username and password here but since I have my Mac back and he has no internet I suppose it's safe to post here) and he tells me that the little iMac, my first Apple, was dead. Dead or alive I wanted the little guy back (I guess you have to own a Mac to understand). Unable to sleep thinking about it (I was considering visiting him just before the fourth, my next days off) I had this stupid idea. I had decided this, my third day off, I needed to go out and do something since I hadn't the other two (and since I have to work all weekend long). What could have been a nice photographc safari at the NC Zoological park turned into a mad dash to Myrtle Beach and back in one day.

I give the guy maybe half an hour of my time and he shows me what's wrong with my little iMac. I make up some malarky about the screen going bad and the logic board and harddrive going bad. I lied. And left with my little graphite colored bundle of joy.

And you know what? It isn't broken. I don't know what his problem was because it works just fine for me, has for the past four hours (where he said it wouldn't stay on for two minutes before winking out).

So I have my first Mac back. May not sound like much but there is something about Apple machines... even unsupported, vintage machines are more useful than PCs. I even have the black keyed Apple Pro keyboard back (the matching mouse was destroyed some time ago).

Here's the little guy back home with me now

I also have the honor of retrieving the guy's saved porn off the harddrive (and maybe assimilating it in my collection ARRR!!! ) and returning it... sometime... to him.

With the good news out of the way, make way for the bad. On the way back from MB, after a torrential downpour, I hit clear skies and all of a sudden the sun's in my face. The bar that keeps the ragtop tight above the windshield on my Jeep is ruined. The screws were pulled right out of rusted metal. It's been fucked for sometime (in the downpour I had water pouring in from underneath that lip where it was, has been, loose). I took the top on down since it wasn't raining but I work the next three days. If I can't rig something up before work tomorrow I gotta hope it doesn't rain, as it's forecast to do mad It looks pretty bad right now, like I can't patch it up. Ah well. That's life, huh?

I'll end on a higher note: I visited iTunes the last night (night before the night of the morning I'm writing this confused ) and saw that Shakespears Sister has a third album!! It's only Siobhan, no Detroit, but I didn't really miss her. And I like it. Not as ethereal as Hormonally Yours but still good enough to add to my collection
raen:
Hormonally Yours... worthy of the Shakespeare name. Not that I have a true appreciatation. I could never understand any of that shit. Congrats on getting your old mac. Hope it hangs on for you because what you described is what my G4 was doing before it died for good and it was a bad motherboard. Anyway those old iMacs are pretty damn slow now aren't they. There's a bunch of them at this one internet place I use occasionally and the screens are all kinda soft too (I think that happens too all CRT screens after a while but theirs are pretty bad). I am an apple fan though and I'm lovin' my new mini.
