Hola. Several folks expressed interest in the Alan Greenberg interview and I won't get to it until the weekend at the earliest so here is an excerpt from the interview I did with him in YETI #1 -- this was done like 4 years ago and also I sold part of it to NY Press 'cause the secret to being a hack is to GET...

Yeah, the turntable is called a Handytrax and you can get one at Vestax.com for about $130. It's worth the money for me because it has a 78 speed, so I can rummage for old Sinatra and Raymond Scott records.

The Pazz & Jop poll is finally live on the Village VOICE site! Yay. Its where music critics vote on their favorite records each year. I can't believe this is still exciting to me -- I've been doing it for 16 years now (!), yeah I think I was first asked when I was 18 -- back then there were a lot more categories, like...

I got such a good response to the "Stab" story I thought I'd post another super long entry -- this is sort of its companion piece, a denial rant I wrote 11 years ago, a few years before getting clean/ sober -- hope you like.

Every now and then I read something that I really "get". The above is one of those moments. You sound very familiar to me, your reactions could very well be my own...I am always "pulling it together" at inappropriate moments, the kind where nobody expects you to be anything other than a quivering pile of jello...but no! I surprise them with my wit and candour anyways.
I'm so glad you made it.
I'm so glad you made it.
Planned on seeing Suicide tonight but took a long nap that made me wanna stay in.....it's like, REALLY cold and I spent the day in Baltimore. Beat.
Tomorrow...Rocket from the Tombs when I am in LA.
I love Nobukazu. Actually, for that genre, I have to admit, I'm pretty easy to please. It's all so sweet and unobtrusive.
Although Nurse With Wound is my all time favorite band (guy, whatever) Loveless by MBV is my favorite record ever recorded. I saw them at the Palace in Hollywood on the last night of the tour. Just before the show, I met them at an in store and loaded up on autographs, then hustled to the Palace for the best show I had ever seen. Yo La Tengo opened up, which was icing. MBV did their one chord "You Made My Realize" break for 35 minutes that night. At the end, I turned around and a full half the audience had left. Ha!! The security guards looked like they wanted to, literally, jump on stage and kill the band with their bare hands. It's funny how much rage you can kick up in people with a little noise.
