Just realized how long it's been since I blogged here-- freaking October.

(Oops, just typed a bunch in the title box. Super-cool and slick that it looks exactly like the other box.) Yeah, the little sidebar on the side of the old design let me know who was updating, and now you kind of have to sift through shit to find it. Does this count as bitching about the newer site, or just facts? OK, moving on...

OK, I'm shutting up about the changes.

I done DONE my venting. Time to move on... into a world of beautiful alterna-chicks and freakish friends. I can live with that. I CAN DO THIS.

Thanks, man... and happy 2014 to you!

Well it's been a few weeks now I guess...

...And I realize I haven't been on the site as often. The cold, spacious feeling hasn't gone away, and the screen filled with links to new blog entries and photos of my SG friends has been been replaced with what, I guess, will result in more clicking around? (Five or six things, as opposed to an entire list/feed, tons of photo links...

:/ I find myself here less often too. Feels like I can't keep up anymore.

trills:

Aww :(

The new design...

Cold and spacious. The old design was really neat and compact; so, they had to change it... I guess to accommodate newer technology? But there's NO warmth to it, everything has miles of white space to it... It's the difference between a comfortable living room and a dentist's office. Honestly, I'm sure this will have some good things about it, and...

I haven't felt the urge to blog or post much anywhere, lately; it goes in waves. I guess I'm pretty busy, that's part of it; also, life is very much full of routine this time of year...

I AM glad it's Fall, though. The very first day of Autumn, clouds came in a broke up the heat. A weird cool storm...

No, not at all... but I'm a film historian and published reviewer with a massive quantity of tapes, DVDs and books that I'm trying to keep neat (not easy). In addition, my wife and I both work our asses off and we're usually too exhausted for proper housekeeping... so we're hiring professional cleaners for the inspection. We're not bad people, but my son is partially responsible for a broken door and some cracked blinds, etc. (in addition to being one of the world's biggest slobs--though I love him). We are requesting the opportunity to pay for any needed repairs or renovations ourselves, but we simply can't afford to deal with another move.

Showgirls at the Castro, hosted by Peaches Christ and a cast of dozens of dramatic drag queens and some genuinely hot females? Yes, please. Audience catcalls were the funniest part of the evening, if you don't count the massive lap-dance invasion for anyone who purchased a large popcorn. (Wave your popcorn bag, and you were liable to have a 200-lb drag queen bumping and...

Fun day on the Russian River, wherein yours truly avoided both a sunburn and public drunkenness, amazingly. It was surprisingly cool and refreshing on the river; and afterwards, the lot of us had a great surf n turf meal, then sat on the porch of my friends' house and b.s.-ed into the night-- a great way to spend a Sunday, which is usually...

This summer was pretty lackluster.

I'm sure everybody plans things. But you need money to execute those plans. My financial situation hasn't been very good as of late.

Sometimes, when I get bailed on (like tonight), I don't get so upset, but it does make me feel more antisocial, kind of like, Fuck you all, then. Then I get wine and listen to music and watch a movie by myself, and get sort of cheerful. It's probably not the best way to handle it, but I didn't bail on me...

Traffic pout of doom! I swear, no fewer than 4 roadworks popped up on my route to work and I was in a crummy mood that day, oops.

Thank you. I cried writing the whole thing....His cage is still in the same spot it's always been, even cleaned out, it's hard to walk by. The husband isn't much for small pets, but I am sure I'll end up with a rat or rabbit in a few months

Well, I saw The Conjuring, and if you're a horror fan, you'll probably like it-- the cast is great, the director maximizes the scare potential in terms of how things are shot, sound is utilized as it should be in a horror film (to creep you out and add atmosphere).... however. However... if you're a hardcore horror fan like myself, don't...

Another one of those horror movies based on "real" events. lol

louisiana:

I have such a low threshold for horror. I can't even do Family Guy because there's too much cartoon blood.

It's a panoramic image with a super long exposure from a film camera. smile

Lotsa friends, lotsa illicit substances, and then a big Irish breakfast to absorb it all the next morning. Then the blessed cool air of Sunset Beach, and The Princess Bride in a massive outdoor showing in Dolores Park, SF. That's been my weekend in a nutshell; and tomorrow I cap it off with a hike, to cleanse the system.

That's a Power Weekend.

So conflicted. My Turkish ex from five years ago has been back in contact with me, after her divorce, and has made it crystal clear that she'd like me to visit her, with an eye towards re-kindling our romance, leading to a family, etc etc. Five years ago, when we broke up, I'd have jumped at the chance, but now I'm really...

So, Rob Zombie at Metal Mayhem last night... the man is a rock god, pure and simple. Costumes and props were out of control, the videos screens were going off with all sorts of psychotronic depravity, and the tunes were meaty and ferocious. A good time was had by all. Considering that I started the day at SF Pride, I feel that I got to...
