Wow, I was just getting ready to write my first blog post in a looong time, when I realized my LAST blog was about putting up Halloween decorations... which is what I did tonight! Something about Halloween inspires me, I guess; and everybody on this site seems to love Halloween. But man, it's always such a relief to go from the continuous hot weather, and...

Marianne tops the bill for spooky movies at the moment  - a French horror series that has an awesome witch!  --otherwise, watching FOX news will always provide scary news..

The decorations are up; horror films have been carefully selected and moved to the top of the queue, along with Season One of Ash Vs Evil Dead; The Complete Tales of E. A. Poe has been dusted off and cracked open... Now all I really have to do is select some appropriate candy for the bowl and search out a few more fun props... [sighs...

[Blows dust off of blog] OK. Well, this is just a little test. It's been a long, long time. Not that I don't visit SG, I do that all the time. And I've gotten into the habit of checking my feed more regularly, too. I'm just not much of a poster-- not here, not on FB. I'll respond like hell, but don't post much about...

*Waves* :) Fully endorse more activity, working on that myself :)

Anyone who hasn't seen Under the Skin should do so-- it's not only a great film, but I think it would appeal to most of the people who like SG, at least the people that I know. Beautiful-yet-disturbing, with lots of unexpected examinations of what it means to love, lust, and to have a sexual identity. All of that, plus several scenes of Scarlett Johansson...

The ending made me sad. There really was no other way it could end, but I didn't think it would end quite like that.

Added to the list.

Sometimes, randomly, I'm compelled to check in here at good ole SG. I won't lie-- I'll hit the front page and the new photos regularly as long as my subscription goes, however much that is... But it's a rare day when I check my feed, and I usually read recent blogs. It's nice to see that some of my SG friends are still going strong;...

In our last house, we had a bird that sounded like it was tweeting, "You're a dick, you're a dick, you're a dick." Seriously. And no one would believe me, until they came to hear it themself. I kinda miss that dick bird, as annoying as it was. Spending time alone, I love. I love people but in small doses but I'm also a bit of loner, really. I've tried otherwise, but fall back in to the same pattern. Sometimes I feel intensely emotional alone and get annoyed that no one says or notices, but logically how would they? Sometimes you have to reach out. This isn't helpful, really ;)

I left alone for about 4 years and it was good at some point actually. Doing whatever you want whenever you want or not doing a thing is good for me. But I felt lonely at times. Btw, thanks a lot for your answer!

(Oops, just typed a bunch in the title box. Super-cool and slick that it looks exactly like the other box.) Yeah, the little sidebar on the side of the old design let me know who was updating, and now you kind of have to sift through shit to find it. Does this count as bitching about the newer site, or just facts? OK, moving on......

I done DONE my venting. Time to move on... into a world of beautiful alterna-chicks and freakish friends. I can live with that. I CAN DO THIS.

...And I realize I haven't been on the site as often. The cold, spacious feeling hasn't gone away, and the screen filled with links to new blog entries and photos of my SG friends has been been replaced with what, I guess, will result in more clicking around? (Five or six things, as opposed to an entire list/feed, tons of photo links, all on the...

Cold and spacious. The old design was really neat and compact; so, they had to change it... I guess to accommodate newer technology? But there's NO warmth to it, everything has miles of white space to it... It's the difference between a comfortable living room and a dentist's office. Honestly, I'm sure this will have some good things about it, and I'm not against change......

I haven't felt the urge to blog or post much anywhere, lately; it goes in waves. I guess I'm pretty busy, that's part of it; also, life is very much full of routine this time of year...

I AM glad it's Fall, though. The very first day of Autumn, clouds came in a broke up the heat. A weird cool storm came in, and dropped...

No, not at all... but I'm a film historian and published reviewer with a massive quantity of tapes, DVDs and books that I'm trying to keep neat (not easy). In addition, my wife and I both work our asses off and we're usually too exhausted for proper housekeeping... so we're hiring professional cleaners for the inspection. We're not bad people, but my son is partially responsible for a broken door and some cracked blinds, etc. (in addition to being one of the world's biggest slobs--though I love him). We are requesting the opportunity to pay for any needed repairs or renovations ourselves, but we simply can't afford to deal with another move.

Showgirls at the Castro, hosted by Peaches Christ and a cast of dozens of dramatic drag queens and some genuinely hot females? Yes, please. Audience catcalls were the funniest part of the evening, if you don't count the massive lap-dance invasion for anyone who purchased a large popcorn. (Wave your popcorn bag, and you were liable to have a 200-lb drag queen bumping and grinding...

Fun day on the Russian River, wherein yours truly avoided both a sunburn and public drunkenness, amazingly. It was surprisingly cool and refreshing on the river; and afterwards, the lot of us had a great surf n turf meal, then sat on the porch of my friends' house and b.s.-ed into the night-- a great way to spend a Sunday, which is usually kind of...

I'm sure everybody plans things. But you need money to execute those plans. My financial situation hasn't been very good as of late.
