Yeah!!! more biking stories ... I'm sure you cannot get enough of these.

So I have been biking to/from work jusr about every day this week. And i have been reading articles on how to bike so that you are increasing your stamina and basically training yourself to be a better rider.

I decided that i am biking entirely wrong and i am changing my style (i tend to go all out too early and i have little energy to continue and this is why i have much difficulties with hills) So yesterday (my first day with my new style) i get into work about 3 minutes faster than the day before. I'm liking this.
On my way home i decide that the best thing to train myself will be to not use my smallest front chainring (granny gear) even though i need to climb the ridge ave hill. So i do it and i average a much higher avg speed (from 6 mph to 9 mph)
I'm feeling great, my legs aren't burning like they usually are, i'm going faster and life is good.
I get just on the other side of fairmount park and my left pedal feels a little spongy, my foot is moving side to side too much. I pedal a little further and it just gets worse. I fear that my pedal is loose on the crank arm but i get off and check and it's fine. I bike another 1/4 - 1/2 mile and it's just getting worse the entire time. I get off again and look at my cleat (the part that clips into the pedal) and i'm missing one of the three screws and another one is pretty loose. This sucked for me. I tried continuing home (i was going to use the granny gear the entire time) but i didn't get 100 yards before i felt really uncomfortable with the situation.
I had to call Steph to rescue me. We went directly to Keswick cycle (where i bought the shoes and cleats the week prior) they gave me a new screw and tightend everything up and told me to check on them before every ride.
Everything is cool now but it was scary. i think i am going to carry an extra screw or two and a screwdriver when i ride.

Yeah this was probably very boring for you to read. I can't be entertaining all the time.

finally somebody else who understands the simple pleasures of rolling over young children and sea creatures with a giant ball biggrin
the sequel looks just as insane and addictive
maybe now they will explain the mysterious bulge in the king of all cosmo's pants, among other things.

i used to have a kick ass u-lock, that too disappeared. i never trust any other type of lock cause i have had a cable lock broken as well.
i had my bike for a whole six months before it was stolen
so i rode a beater around town for years as security measure. that bike was a tank. looked like hell but rode great.

I'm scared of bike problems on long rides.... the last thing I need is a blown tire or something when I'm 15 miles from anything.

Of course, I haven't gotten my bike out yet. blackeyed
