crazy weekend of football. i can't root for the steelers, patriots and many other teams for various reasons. here's why i can root for these teams :

new york jets - i love rex ryan's attitutde, want to see ladanian tomlinson get a ring.

chicago bears - brian urlacher is the best nfl player ever from the university of new mexico, my alma mater.

I really hate people shitting on Rex for being Rex. He's loud and a braggart, but who doesn't want a coach that thinks he's coaching the greatest team every and is going to win every game? Don't get me wrong, I bleed Green & White, but I almost always bet against them. As a long time Jets fan, I expect disappointment. The Pack was smart to grow tired of Favre's "I'm thinking about retiring" nonsense and sticking with Rogers. Kid is damn good. I expect they'll represent the NFC in the Superbowl.

so. i'm at home, chilling by myself on a friday night. watching rush : beyond the lighted stage. easily one of my favorite bands. alas, as the documentary notes, not exactly a chick magnet. however, it is always refreshing to hear how much sound three guys can produce, their insanely high level of musicianship and lyrics i can relate to, and through which i can...

i'll be traveling to santa fe for the new year. a traditional party, a dinner at a nice japanese restaurant and a reunion show of a high-school band made up of some old friends. then likely some hungover football with my dad on sunday. provided he has kicked his yearly holiday pneumonia by then. i always feel like the holiday season is touch and go...

I'm staying local and spending a quiet New Year's Eve with a few friends. That's always been the way I've done things.

Happy New Year.
mattacme:
I hope you have an enjoyable time in Santa Fe and wish you the best.

I go nowhere I can't walk to and from on New Years, even when I'm not drinking, which I seldom do of late. Still, a toast to the back of 2010 and the face of 2011; may she be lovely and kind.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you feel better.

Alcohol and whipped cream combined? Now that totally tops the pancake, figuratively and literally.

homeward bound for the holiday weekend to cook for my family, watch some football, play some poker, and hook-up with an ex-gf. it sounds good in theory, we'll see how it goes down in practice. wish all my friends peace and prosperity. unless you prefer chaos and drama.
wsoxfan:
I wish the same for you and yours.

Suck out at least once for me when you're playing poker. Heaven knows it's been done more than enough to me.
