well. apparently i didn't cancel my membership, and my bank account was hit for the $48, year-long fee. it's worth it. i'm rarely here anymore, so if anyone wants to take over the poker group, petition lil_tuffy and i will endorse you in a group vote. i also own top fives if anyone is interested. people are starting to like me in interviews and my resume is starting to get noticed, so it's a matter of time before i get hired. in the meantime, i'm keeping my skills sharp in my kitchen, starting a cookbook, going to the gym everyday and enjoying the beautiful albuquerque weather. watching the preakness today. i worked at a race track for years when i was younger. even the most seasoned gamblers in vegas will tell you to avoid betting the ponies, but i get a serious thrill throwing $20 at each of the triple crown races. two years ago i won $441 on the derby, last year i kicked myself when i didn't bet the new mexico horse that went off at 50-1 and won. drop me a line and let me know how your summer is going.

I disagree with those who put down horse-playing. It's similar to poker, as there's a major skill element to handicapping the horses.

I had major success at different tmes in my life with the horses. I'm sure most of the naysayers about betting the ponies are too lazy to work hard enough to make it work for them.
