december 27th. really? 2009 is gone already?
i have moved back to new mexico due to a few small hitches in the las vegas employment search. the strange thing is, the positions i am applying for pay as much here in albuquerque, santa fe and las cruces as they do in sin city. and the unemployment rate in las vegas just topped 18%. i can live for much cheaper here, as well. and i have family and friends in new mexico. and a girlfriend.
the vegas adventure was fun, but i now find myself in debt. i accomplished my two main goals. yet i never managed to secure a good job in one of the hotels, because little bugaboos kept surfacing from my past on background checks. the question asked on new mexico job applications is; 'have you ever been convicted of a felony?' this is a resounding 'no' for me. in vegas, the question was; 'list all the times you have been arrested for anything more than a simple traffic violation.'
sheesh. you got a few minutes? i may need another ink cartridge.
so i have three major goals for 2010, and they are all very reachable. i am still collecting unemployment compensation, thanks barack, and i can afford to be choosy here when it comes to the job search. i am living in my mother's guest wing until i find employment in albuquerque or santa fe, then i will find a 2bdr house in abq with a roomate. or i can move to las cruces and move in with the new girlfriend, but we have only been dating 6 weeks, so that would be premature. the minimum wage in santa fe is $10.65/hour, the highest in the country apparently. i am hoping to make more than that, but i could survive on those wages if absolutely necessary.
cheers to all my friends here, i hope 2010 brings you what you wish for.

Same to you. Maybe the Eagles will break through this year and win it all. McNabb looks damn good. "This town's in tatters."
