i'm busy setting up a portfolio project for the commencement show on september 24th. it's like a concentrated job fair for each division of the art institute, there will be chefs from all over las vegas there. the problem is, nobody is hiring. as the unemployment rate approaches 10% nationwide, las vegas has scaled back to ridiculous skeleton status. the real estate market here is crashing and the overall economic situation here is among the worst. needless to say, i have started playing poker again. if i am unable to secure a decent job here by my birthday, february 16th, i'll move back to new mexico where the situation is not so dire. it's disappointing, because i came out here to stake my claim and build my resume in one of the major hotels. my pops also has plans to move out here for the rest of his days. that is on hold. c'est la vie. at least i have an alternative source of income, and can make my rent, bills and food each month. i won't focus on the mountain of debt i have accrued over the past three years, even though i have no full-time job and the interest is building with every second as i type. i'll definitely have to put off buying a new car, and can't save any money to put down on a house. suck.
