holiday cooking schedule is italian food. twelve pasta recipes include sauces ; alfredo, bolognese, carbonara, pesto, piccata and rigato. and stuffed pastas ; lasagne ricotta , seafood canneloni, macaroni with cheese and pancetta, mushroom tortelloni, cheese tortellini with marinara and ravioli fiorentino. i'll post pictures as they are finished. today i have to do the shopping for some 40 total recipes, which i will be making in the next three weeks. six meat dishes, four seafood, two polentas, two risottos, three soups, four salads, four desserts, four vegetable dishes and three antipasti. expensive and time consuming, but worth it in the end.
the mystery skin illness turned out to be a harmelss, non-contagious rash which is nevertheless itchy and annoying as hell. it was misdiagnosed twice and cost me and my family too much money. in medical texts it is relatively unexplained, nobody knows where it comes from. it just appears for 4-8 weeks and then disappears, never to be contracted again. on the bright side, i got a physical and all my blood work done. outside of being a bit overweight and having low blood sugar, i am perfectly healthy. blood pressure, cholesterol, heart, brain, liver, kidneys and lungs are all just fine.
with these developments, and my impending graduation from culinary school in june, less debt than i had imagined, and a potentially new apartment with laundry facilities, i am feeling pretty froggy. downright excited for the first time in awhile. i might actually ask someone out on a date when this godforsaken rash clears up. i get to see a bunch of old friends today, as well. so that's good. i'll leave you all with some of the good rock.
happy holidays, may you avoid the shopping rushes and enjoy as much cheap gasoline as you can fit in your gas tanks.
