in unrelated news, i was removed from an airplane and thrown out of an airport because an airline company lost my ticket. and i lost my temper. law suit ensues, because they made me buy another ticket the following day, when i was allowed back in the airport again.
true story. somewhere inbetween me handing them my boarding pass, and them doing their final ticket inventory, they lost my ticket. which i paid for in cash. ergo they need a hard paper copy, which they lost. obviously, i had the ticket when i got my boarding pass, and then i relinquished it upon boarding the plane.
when they couldn't find the hard copy, i was removed from the airplane, and they told me they needed my ticket. i explained to them i had given it to them. they told me they didn't have it, and i would have to buy another ticket to get back on the airplane. i objected, and tried to reason with them. how would i have a boarding pass if i didn't have a ticket? they even called it up on the computer and found the original transaction. but, since the ticket was paid for with cash, they needed a hard copy. which they didn't have, because they lost.
the manager gave me one opportunity to buy another ticket. when i said no, he sent the plane. with my carry-on luggage on it. he wouldn't let me retrieve my computer, ipod and camera. at this point i became livid. he called security, and i was escorted to the baggage office of southwest airlines, where i filled out a form for luggage retrieval. then i was escorted off the airport property and told i couldn't return to the building till the following day. which was today.
so, i complained when i went back this morning, but they made me buy another ticket. i will receive a refund for my other ticket after one year if nobody else uses it. a detail the manager never bothered to share with me when he told me i'd have to buy another ticket. i never used profanity, never threatened anybody and used no hostile or threatening gestures. i got screwed, plain and simple.
i will never fly southwest airlines again, and i have a lawyer friend who is pursuing a suit against the manager, who broke a law when he sent my carry-on luggage without me on the plane.
thanks for your time. i received my luggage intact today from the airline. no apology, no explanation, no remorse. no customer service. no more customer. i tried to explain that they were losing a customer who averaged $1000 per year in airline tickets with their airline. apparently, they couldn't care less, and the thousands of dollars of business i have done with them in the past got me absolutely nothing. not even an audience with a regional manager or an apology from the jerk who tossed me from the airport.
