gym, eat, work, drink, sleep. repeat. i have three days off in a row this week and next week. i need to find something interesting to do. i'm debating buying a $1000 bicycle with my new credit card. i've never had a credit card. i managed to avoid debt my entire adult life. now that i have some debt, i want more. not really, but...

I think it's a good investment. Sounds like we've both given up poker. For me, it's a good thing. I hope it's the same for you.
worked 50 hours this week. from sunday through thursday. i'm off today, then working 8-4 saturday and sunday. it took me a few shifts to get my legs, but i'm good now.
i work as a pantry cook at the restaurant, responsible for salads, sandwiches and desserts. it's a good job, the people are chill and my boss seems to be happy with my progress....

Is it hot as hell in the kitchen? I remember working in the restaurant that I did, and it would be 90+ in the kitchen in the middle of winter with the windows open drawing in freezing air.

I'm happy that you're getting your life in order. You seem to have a solid approach and have both your feet on the ground.
Best of luck.
Best of luck.
i got a full-time job at one of the coolest restaurants in albuquerque. it doesn't pay what i want it to, but with the part-time catering gig i can make ends meet. i'll be working close to 50 hours a week if the schedules work out, and it's about damn time. in 2-3 years i can take the american culinary federation's level two certification test...

Awesome news.

Congrats. This is an example of hard work and perseverence paying off.
i got into this band recently. the black keys. still collecting all their shit.
mellow and hot in abq. working at a catering company, going to the gym, working on a cookbook and trying to let my personality off the chain when i get the chance. i've been thinking about las vegas, and i'm convinced when it comes to destinations i'm always a 'grass is greener' kinda' guy.

It's losing the driver's license that sucks, not the money or the clip so much.
Sounds like you have a busy and happy life in NM. Are you actually considering going back to Vegas?
I haven't gambled in well over a year. I'm so immersed in my current lifestyle that I don't miss it at all. I don't think I was ever addicted, but I'm glad I stopped anyway. I'm enjoying life more without it.

go give hezza some love.
well. apparently i didn't cancel my membership, and my bank account was hit for the $48, year-long fee. it's worth it. i'm rarely here anymore, so if anyone wants to take over the poker group, petition lil_tuffy and i will endorse you in a group vote. i also own top fives if anyone is interested. people are starting to like me in interviews and my...

I'll start a thread in the poker group for a new group owner if you want.

I disagree with those who put down horse-playing. It's similar to poker, as there's a major skill element to handicapping the horses.
I had major success at different tmes in my life with the horses. I'm sure most of the naysayers about betting the ponies are too lazy to work hard enough to make it work for them.

Good to see that you're still around.

Greed and gambling beyond one's means are sure recipes for failure. It sounds like you don't suffer from either of those afflictions.
spring is on the way, business is picking up, and i am starting to have some good interviews. i will have a job by the end of the april, and move back to albuquerque where i can resume what i would like to imagine is a normal life. i'm looking forward to an active productive, healthy summer. life is a beautiful gift and i have...

Hey e_e. I'm sorry to see you go. I wish you all the best with everything going forward. I'm not really an active facebooker anymore. I was just so piss poor about logging into it that I kept falling behind and didn't enjoy it much. But, if you want to shoot me your email, we can keep up from time to time.
