i am still working part-time for the catering company. i'm so experienced with job hunting that i'm bound to get a full-time job soon. if it pays more, offers more hours and puts me in contact with fewer prima donnas than the old job, i will consider it a vast improvement. now that i don't work at the other restaurant, i might go back in... the restaurant let me go last night. just as much an issue of fitting in as it was speed, they said. c'est la vie. back on the job hunt. single and unemployed again. sigh.
i had my first-month review at work. they said i had improved 100%, but that i still need to reduce ticket times during the rushes if i want to get hired on full-time. apparently i have a few weeks to impress the front of the house management with my speed. i thought i had already made it...
and the brutal stretch begins today. i work 3-11 tonight and 8-4 tomorrow. then 9-4 sunday, 3-11 monday and 3-11 tuesday. i had an interesting talk on the phone with my ex-girlfriend. she did her best to apologize for being ridiculously uncivil when we broke up in march, but she's still a little removed from the facts. to put it nicely. i returned some of... Yeah. I know what it's like to compare new relationships to someone that meant a whole lot to me in the past. It's a relief when you get over that, which it looks like you have.

finished with saturday and sunday brunch. i work monday night, then i'm trying to get someone to cover my shift tuesday night so i can go see rush in concert. i went out on a date with a 19 year-old about a two years ago, when i lived in vegas. and she didn't know who ac/dc was. she had also told me she was 21... this shit was pretty sweet. not quite as awesome as the zidane footage from 2006, but close. soccer is as capricious as rocky mountain winds, but i think the united states has some mojo heading into the next games. ghana and then likely uruguay in the round of 8 if they win. the team has, like, 5 serious goal-scoring threats, but the back line is... At the risk of sounding like a traitor, I'd prefer seeing a team like Ghana win. I feel that something like this is so much more important to the citizens of a country that don't have much to cheer about in everyday life because of poverty and the lack of modern technology. They don't have much going for them other than some type of athletic achievement.
