Photos from October 11, 2018 . In the midst of so much destruction , there was a wedding procession. All blessings to the happy couple !!

The young child talking with Dr. Soran, our friend/driver/translator, works in the shadow of Our Lady of the Hour.  He sells produce like olives , pickles, and peppers. He and the small shop represent life v-e-r-y  s-l-o-w-l-y returning to the hardest hit area of Mosul.

The church is Our Lady of the Hour, so called because of its clocktower . It was a Chaldean Catholic Church built in the 1870s . It was damaged in a terrorist bombing in 2006 , then largely destroyed by ISIS in 2016.

If the lighting on Mosul photos looks odd,  the photos were shot during a  dust storm.  We had a narrow window. As in, Security isn’t great so be out of town by nightfall. As if to accentuate this point, there have been several car bombs and casualties since we left :- (((
