The three-day weekend is drawing to a close and I'm almost relieved to be going back to work, believe it or not. All this free time kind of freaks me out! No, not really. It was a good weekend. Saturday night I housesat for my parents and went to the Cinespia screening, which at first appeared hopelessly crowded but after settling in, was actually fun....

Sunday: Father's day. Poor dad prepared lunch for everybody! He likes doing that, though. Took me 2 hours to drive 15 miles home afterwards, and some asshole cut me off. Soon enough the asshole was waving at me, and I realized it was my own brother.
Monday: Mindless TV evening.
Tuesday: Vegetarian Indian food. Even though I'm not a vegetarian, it's my favorite.

Ok first off both are on 8th and are within 30 feet of each other off Cataline.
Soot Bull Jeep is the best Korean BBQ in the city. You leave smelling of charcoal. It's not a cheap meal but so good. You get plates of uncooked meat (and some rather, erm, other parts if you want) and cook them over a grill in front of you. You have rice, lettuce, all sorts of kim chi, garlic and such. Wash it down with a HITE Korean beer and some Korean sake (forgot the name!) and it's amazingly good.
Mom's is fairly cheap and NO FRILLS. It's in a mini mall. Most of the employees dont speak Korean and I have only gotten the Bulgugi (beef with spices and veggie on a simmering plate) and the soup but....it's again amazing with all the rice, kim chi, etc. You should go...and invite Emilygee & me to come along with you. It's so damn good

My fav. part od that tape (now that I know I didn't miss the Dylan vomit launch) is when Dylan tells Lennon how great America is, "There is baseball and 24 Hors of TV...." to which Lennon dryly replies, "Sounds great."
What part of LA did you grow up in? LA native too. Got my grass skirt nd my spear right here......

Ahhh, another person into "Antiques Road Show" I'll pretend that makes us uber cool and elite, but my massive self doubt leads me to think we be nerds. I've spent most of my life in Post Production in one form or another but I've never thought about the subtitler... wow cool job if you can spell... a craft I quite aparently havent mastered.
PS Tanks for the shots of our beautiful city.

Another walking tour this Saturday (the downtown skyline). Went on one last weekend. Then I went and saw Charles Phoenix's show.
Afterwards, went to the revolving bar at the top of the Bonaventure, but it wasn't revolving that night. Got a souvenir drink, though. Sunday, I went with my brother to see David Foster Wallace speak. I hated all the pseudo-intellectual pretentious fucks in the...

Came home from a long miserable day,

I saw I saw six films in the span of a week. I'm exhausted!
The highlight was "Just for Fun" (1963, UK) I discovered the Spotnicks, a Swedish band from the early sixties that used to perform in astronaut costumes.
Also, "It's Trad, Dad!" (AKA Ring-a-Ding Rhythm, 1962, UK), directed by Richard Lester of Hard Day's Night, featured the Temperance Seven, a 60s...

note: at 1,018 feet, the first interstate world center IS the "tallest L.A. building" and the tallest building on the west coast and the tallest building in a seismic zone. designed to withstand an 8.3 shake-up.

Saturday morning, went on a walking tour of Spring Street here in Los Angeles. Such beautiful buildings; so heartbreaking. The highlight for me was the Crocker Bank Vault. The actual vault is breathtaking: so heavy and noirish. Saturday night, saw Cisco Pike and The Outside Man as part of the L.A. Site Unseen series. All in all, a very L.A. weekend. Well, not very L.A.,...

Second battery of allergy tests today yielded that I'm allergic to strawberries, yeast, and wheat. Sadly, this is the most exciting information I have to offer about my day.
