"Once in a while you can get shown the light
In the strangest of places if you look at it right . . . ."
Indeed.
Went to the Bob Murphy memorial service at St. Patrick's today with my boy Moses. It was something else. Gary Thorne was heartbreaking and sweet.
The skies got darker than I 've nearly ever seen them when we entered...

i used to be much more abrasive to look at, but now the hairs grown out, the attitude is retired, that kind of thing
sadly, one of the biggest reasons for behaving myself is living here, where life can be hell for creative and expressive people
which they say happens everywhere
but i dont know if theyve ever been to lynchburg
big ups to carolina, though, those people can throw down

i just saw a commercial that i take for granted, but you most likely have never seen but would certainly enjoy. as i'm watching the Tigers on FSN detroit, they showed a commercial for the Tigers, here's how it goes...
bunch of kids at a birthday party, pinata hanging from a tree, one kid is about to whack it as Dmitri Young and Eric Munson show up in uniform, bats in hand, Da Hook stops the kid and steps up and CRUSHES the pinata. Munson says "man, you really got a hold of that one" Young says "yeah i did, didnt i?" and they chuckle.
its awesome.

There is something kind of mellow and groovy about having a date at 1:30 am. It means getting off work at 7:30, stopping by for a nice glass of milk at a bar with pals after the work day is over, then walking home through a nice evening with the radio painting the story of a distant and magical land called St. Louis.

hey thanks! saves me the time of looking him up!
In 2001 once Ankiel was sent to triple a, I started buying his cards on ebay, dealers were dropping them all over the place, the market became completely saturated. Then once he continued to be wild in triple a and they sent him to extended spring training, then I started getting them dirt cheap. I went to a card show in St Louis even, and I started pulling some ankiel's out of a box that said, "50 cents each" and the dealer said, "I'll go 25 on the Ankiels", so I bought them all.
I think I have about 600 Ankiel cards now, and I probably only spent like $150 on all of them. I've stopped buying any more, but the whole point was to buy them up while they were cheap. So I hope he makes his way back to the majors so I can cash in. If not, I guess I could open up a small Ankiel museum.
