What a luverly party this weekend! Thanks all for helping to organize and for attending. Ya'll know who you are. smile

FYI kids, I'll probably be around during the holidays but my time on the site may be serious curtailed after that. I'm working out a deal with my company to keep working here with the promotion, raise, etc. I'm just trying to make it worth my while and it appears as if it just might happen. Woohoo!

Word of the day: moxie - Etymology: from Moxie, a trademark for a soft drink.
1 : ENERGY, PEP
2 : COURAGE, DETERMINATION
3 : KNOW-HOW, EXPERTISE

Q: I asked this question to Girlcatx but I'll post it for everybody. Is love only the product of human biology or is there more to it than just that?

My .02,

Love is a construct of human society based on a biological need. We don't have mention of "romantic love" in literature until 12th Century France. It has become another sort of religious payoff fantasy that is easier to believe in than deal (in the neo-puritanical society we live in) with the fact that we all horny and need us some luvvin'.

Get away from the expectation or hope of some force of love and the world is a much happier place. Not as fantasy, but ... leave fantasy to healthy parts of imagination, not day to day "reality."

The way out, and still have love? Re-define the meaning of the term.

Romantic Love (not filial or otherwise) = the respect of another being as an individual.

Or, accepting that another person exists (counter to existentialism, nihilism, et al.) and has a perspective on the world that is different from your own. Giving them as much right to their opinion as you give your own.
