In the wise words of Pink Floyd (Dark Side of the Moon):

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
Money, it's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I'll buy me a football team

Money, get back
I'm all right Jack keep your hands off of my stack
Money, it's a hit
Don't give me that do goody good bullshit
I'm in the high-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet

Money, it's a crime
Share it fairly but don't take a slice of my pie
Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today
But if you ask for a raise it's no surprise
That they're giving none away.

========================

And I'm no big fan of the stuff either. But you become obsessed with lucre when every month is a challenge to make ends meet. I'm certain that its because I *don't* make money a priority in my life that I struggle with it. Nevertheless, the gross excesses and simultaneous selfishness of this country sicken me.

Why do we have some of the wealthiest people in the world living here, and yet, we're the least socialist of nearly every modern nation? Do these people not understand that by erroding the security and safety of the underclass that they're only pushing the system toward collapse?

We don't live in a vaccum; to make money also means to take money away from somebody else. Thus, the resources need to be more evenly distributed, even if it is an unnatural and state-determined function to do so.

I lived in the Gulf region from birth to six, and for my last two years of high school. Ummm...I thought the UAE was...a good place to spend the last two years of high school. biggrin I've been around the Middle East quite a bit, I guess, but not really for anything like a cultural/historical tour.
