I've been listening to Air America somewhat constantly since it first aired some weeks ago. It's most welcome, as I've been despairing the lack of criticism (or, er...reporting) on the normal news sources.

For those who haven't heard about it, it's streaming on the web at www.airamericaradio.com.

I picked up a bunch of cd's the other day, too (couple of freelance checks came in -- woo) from The Wedding Present, Zuzu's Petals, Jale, Decibully, The Stool Pigeons and (*gasp*) Nellie McKay.

I picked up the last one because half the people I know have formed a crazed-elitist hatred of her and wondered that the big deal was. She's not that bad. I think there's a lot to like about the cd, actually. It's not revolutionary or anything, but the kid's 19, writes her own stuff and really can sing. I don't know. These are the same people who came down hard on Fiona Apple for unspecified reasons.

People and their opinions, huh?

Peace.

i don't think i've ever even heards of nellie mckay. i think that makes me super-crazed-elitist. i've seen tin hat trio perform twice: once in knoxville, tn, of all places, and once here in portland where they performed a soundtrack to a weird old stop-motion film with bugs. very cool. i wish they were my friends.

Thanks for the welcome!

I've tried to listen to Air America, but can't get a constant stream at work. What I've heard has been good.

Thanks for the band tips, I've been listening to WAY too much of that Wilco/Uncle Tupelo/Son Volt stuff, and I need a change. Not that I don't like it anymore, just overdosed a bit!

Yeah, people and their opinions...

some folks just like to hear themselves talk!
