so i saw return of the king today again with my ex girlfriend. before anyone yells at me for this, no, im not getting back together with her, even though she basically asked me back out last week.
but anyway...so i was watching it and thinking about something tigerlily said. basically pointing out how the movies corelate to whats going on today. and i can see the paralells. the interesting thing is that 50 years ago, people were saying that the books were about WWII. tolkein always said that they werent an allegory for the war. but i think this just says something about how prolific the stories are, in that people can take different meanings from them in different times. and it says something for jackson to be able to make that translate to todays crowd.
