Back from Barcelona. Two days of sporadic packing, and then we're off again, for good this time. His foodie-ness is rubbing off on me, we ate such g.ooooooo.....d foo....ooooo.d,

Oh and I've discovered I like Andrew Bird. Help, it'll be our ol' pal Bob next, and then I'm lost to the reasonable world...

Its my last day at work today. I have one bitch of a saturday night service to pull through, and then I'm gone. Je m'enfuie!

I spent nearly an hour yesterday (it was a slow service...) staring at 2 semi-dead cockroaches that someone had killed and half put in my bin. I re-discovered the part in me that was so fascinated with the intricacies of...

What is the likelyhood of a 15 year old Renault Clio, with questionable brakes and cooling system (and a water-like noise coming from behind the dashboard), making it 5000km around europe? I mean, with the odometer stuck at 189,000km its not going to miss the odd few extra numbers on the clock. My technical knowledge of all things car related is limited to adding oil/petrol/wiper...

eugh..
At work today the chef gave me a bottle of blue chemicals to clean some really dirty glass with. It started to tarnish the metal in the sink immediately on contact, and I dont have any gloves....

On the plus side, if i do need immediate medical treatment for severe chemical burns, the French government have decided to give me 600Euro for surviving the...

Most find solace in cleaning. I like the after more than the during though.

So, you get money just for being in France? Odd.

I'm a-going roadtripping. Our current plan is Italy, Slovinia, Croatia, Serbia, Hungary, Czech Rep, Germany, Belguim, France. Skip out on the last month of our rent, and take off. Apparently, according to viamichelin.com, if we did it straight out in one go, it'd only take about 50 hours! Crazy! I'm so looking forward to the Budapest baths, I wonder if they're as good as I remember...

So where exactly where you studying linguisitcs and what was the program...I am asking because I am researching Linguistic programs overseas and was curious to know which one you are/were in.

biggrin ooo aaa

Ooh, that would be fantastic. I am specifically wanting to focus in phonology and perhaps some morphology.

That's so sweet of you to scout for me. I don't plan on grad school or doctorate for at least a couple of years but it is nice to know everything that is out there. I am already studying French and it would be nice to get to practice it by actually speaking to natives. Spanish os the big 'other' language in the States, so I am more proficient at Spanglish conversation...ahha...

So which script do you prefer, cyrilic? hungul? nihongo? arabic?

I dig em all!

Have fun on your roadtrip, take care of that sweet chef of yours.

Chef's are good people. wink

I first encountered it in Barcelona, and in my humble opion it's one of the most beautiful sounds you can hear. There's someone in Aix with one too now, and he's the only busker worth stopping for.

I also giggled my way through work today. The French commis was trying to practice his english, and said "the blue box",...

My hands smell of bleach.

I'm dishwashing temporarily to pay the exorbitant rents they charge in the pretty towns in the South of France. In my other life, im a French/Linguistics student! I'm actually speaking more french now i'm in the "real" French world (as opposed to surrounded by other foreign students), than i was before, and hey, I provide the chef with a good...
