As I sit here watching more Moose & Squirrel, I wonder which cartoon character started the whole "xxx J. xxx". Off the top of my head, here are four.
Michigan J. Frog
Rocket J. Squirrel
Bullwinkle J. Moose
Homer J. Simpson
Homer's middle name is an homage to Rocky & Bullwinkle, so he's out. The frog appeared roughly 10-15 years before Rocky & Bullwinkle, but I don't think he was named as such at the time. I could be wrong though.
