but if your people were ever colonized, grandparents enslaved, raped and dispossessed, their langauge stolen, took up arms, rebelled, talked of witches, fairees and lil people, ate from the sea, burned wet earth for heat

Nope, I never saw that Mitchum/Winters. So what was it about the death scene? Whatever it is, my memory of the OG Bond legacy tends to be the sexy stuff...and the super villians of course.

I avoided his Jezuz movie and Mayans movie for the reasons you describe. No reason to subject myself to that

Wait, what did I say? Extreme gore? I totally saw the Christ flick sort of for that & to see what the hoopla was over. I didn't think it ws a big deal, that's just me. The only time ever did a "gore" scene make me uncomfortable was the infamous cop scene in Reservoir Dogs. I have no idea what it was or why--and I CAN watch it now but it still makes me flinch! I just didn't like it. LOVE the movie, but that was disturbing to me for some reason. First viewing I walked out of the room. But I am a big girl! I have handled much worse gore. Don't know what it was about that scene.

Anyhoo. Yes, Leo is surprisingly good for action. His action/head smashing scenes in The Departed were top notch! He is a great psycho! I always wonder how he would've fared had he stayed on for American Psycho. Bale did a great job but I would still've LOVED to have seen Leo as Bateman. Damn!

Scotland was a bizarre call in terms of who was really the lead. It's a weird movie since none of it is based on anything other than his name. I love that you call the Scot the putz-ha! He sure was infuriating towards the end. Take Whitaker away from it & it was not a good watch.

I do look forward to seeing Half Nelson. I need to hook up my new TV and get Netflix back. I watch a lot of movies too.blush My obsession.

LOL@24 hour fatness. I used to go there, but I switched to Curves because I like the structure of the workout there. I also enjoy old fat ladies that look at me as though I am the antichrist... biggrin

You know I saw both trailers for the Clint wars and I just don't have any interest. Esp FOOF but then less in Iwo Jiwa. I was just not compelled. What can I do!? I take it you like war movies? I'm selective but Full Metal Jacket is one of my all-time in-general favorites.

I really thought Penn was terrible in MR. I think he is a masterful over-actor. He's almost a parody of himself. 2004 was a slow year for the awards and I think that's what helped MR & that loser.

Ask yourself, why was Goodfellas so much better than the Departed, and you might see why I resist loving the movie. And the fuckin rat at the end, pu-lease.

Why don't you say it, don't spray it? One thing that stands out for me, in answering this question is the NJ/NY location and Italian actors. I was a bit thrown off by the Irish. But let's get this started I suppose. Be gentle!

What was so terrible about the rat?

Ok, your turn.

Valentine is the patron saint of prisoners

No joke

There are too damn many people behind bars, and it's not only their fault

It's our society's orgy of cruelty. Do you know what the fall out is of having 2 million people in prison?

Millions and millions of prison orphans and widows, millions and millions of parolees, with post tramatic stress disorder and a felony...
