OMG, four days of driving and I have finally made it to LA!!!! We are completely settled in and already have cable and internet and all that jazz like gas and electric! I cant believe how beautiful it is out here! I think its like -14 degrees in Chicago right now and I am sitting on my deck in shorts and a t-shirt. I love this place! But I am getting ahead of myself! Let me tell you about being on the open road!
DAY 1: Chicago, IL to Springfield, MO
Pretty boring for the most part... cornfields and bullshit. I found out right away that I was going to be driving the uhaul the entire way and Maggie and her mom were going to be driving my jeep. The uhaul also had Maggie's car attached to the back of it on a carhaul or whatever the fuck they are called. The uhaul only had an am/fm radio so I got to listen to the local channels the entire way.
DAY 2: Springfield, MO to Amarillo, TX
Nice drive... We actually didn't make it all the way to Amarillo... we stopped earlier cause we were tried and we stayed in the WORST motel on the face of the EARTH. First of all, the room was the SMELLIEST room EVER. It smelt like someone took a shit in the corner and let it fester in the heat for days and days. Then we are sitting in the beds drinking some vodka when I realize we are not alone. COCKROACHES EVERYWHERE. I couldn't believe it. I saw at least 4 on the walls and another few on the night table by the bed and they were even crawling on the plastic cups we were using for our drinks! Then to top it off... I went to take a shower and there was a cockroach in the tub the size of my FIST. I shit you not. GROSS. If you are ever driving to Amarillo, TX and decide to stop about an hour early do not, I REPEAT, do not stay at a place called WESTERN MOTEL.
DAY 3: Somewhere before Amarillo, TX to Kingman, AZ.
Yes, this was the fun part, driving up the mountains. Pretty damn scary in the uhaul but I got it accomplished. But if you are ever driving from TX heading west on 40... just want to let you know you will only pick up one radio channel and it is New Mexico/West Texas public radio... and it sucks. 45 minutes of someone playing the flute in a cave or some shit. Oh, we were originally going to stop in Flagstaff but decided to drive extra. We ended up driving a total of 14 hours on day 3. Maggie and I decided to go to a bar to celebrate... it was pretty exciting.
DAY 4: Kingman, AZ to Glendale, CA
WE ARE HERE! Driving down the mountains was not that bad as I thought it was going to be. We got here and are all settled in. It is actually a really nice place on a really nice street (Wilson & Chevy Chase Dr.). Cant wait to see what LA has to offer me!!!!
Well that is my trip in a nut shell... I will be posting pictures and all that shit soon. So check back, I am sure I will make a bulletin about it or something... and of course I will be keeping you updated on everything happening out here in LA.
