I had the good fortune to be in San Francisco this past weekend with my friend Charlene. Every time I see a part of the city on foot (this time was Haight-Ashbury), I realise that there's really no other way to get to know the place. But, damn, for being a temperate place, it was hot on Sunday. Not relative to most of North America, perhaps, but the high of 85 was more than what the locals usually get.
We had the good fortune to use a two-night hotel voucher, but there was a sad reality underlying that: Charlene's friend Margaret had been planning to use those two free nights in SF with her son Ian, but, a few weeks ago, Margaret's mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given less than a year to live which resulted in that trip's cancellation. I found out that today, less than three weeks after the diagnosis, she died.
That does nothing but suck.
A number of years ago, I e-mailed the girl from my high school class voted "most individual" after being out of contact for a few years. She soon thereafter asked me if she were too old to get a navel piercing. I responded with nary a sexual thought in mind by saying, "If you were 80 and wanted a clitoral piercing, you should get it." That somehow offended her. Damn it, people are odd.
"God" by John Lennon & The Plastic Ono Band may be a song even older than I am (and I'm as old as dirt), but that is a magnificent tune, indeed.
My roommate Kate gets naked a great deal. We're platonic friends (she's smitten with this fellow Chris and I'm somewhere on the 'dating' continuum with Charlene), but it's still good to have female nudity around the place.
I'm more excited about the return of hockey than I was expecting that I would be.
This illegitimate administration is seriously odd.
