William Shatner's spoken-word version of Pulp's "Common People" has been out for months, but only now have I realised that I like it. Captain Kirk is probably a complete jerk in person, but his bizarre rendition of "Rocket Man" back in the 1970s was enough to give me an appreciation for his oddness.
I found out today that friends of mine will be moving from greater Philadelphia to Vermillion, South Dakota. Under normal circumstances, I'd be the first to say, "I'll try to visit as soon as I can", but the prospect of visiting a town in in that Iowa-SD-Nebraska boring vortex sounds as exciting as eating drywall. Why couldn't they have gone to grad school in the British Virgin Islands??
