Busy times for me lately...

* The largest project at work is now done again for another year. Of course, I've already detected errors and omissions in my work, but, as this is par for the course, I'm not going to concern myself with such matters. I'd never say that I have an exciting job, but it serves my interests well.

* Wednesday, June 6 is ShellyMC's birthday. Wish her a happy one as she richly deserves one.

* Two weekends ago, I was in Vancouver with Steve, my friend from high school. Back in the days when I had a mullet and attended numerous Metallica concerts, we found much commonality. No more. Not even close. The weekend felt more like an exercise in endurance than anything else. If ever you hear that I've taken a trip with Steve again in the future, call me on it and I'll give you $500. Don't count on that money, though. It's just not going to happen.

* In complete contrast, this past weekend was magnificent. Former SG member arottenkitten and I conspired to surprise HolaGatita last Friday and the plan worked exceedingly well. She'd never visited Seattle before but, after three days of gallivanting about the Emerald City, Hola and I were working hard to convince her of the value of relocation. I was thrilled to once again be joyful in the presence of visiting friends and I'm betting dollars to donuts that this trend will be continuing come early July...biggrin

* Movie reviews! The film festival has shown me some worthwhile selections in just a few days:

Outsourced: not worthy of an 8.4, but a decent little film, nonetheless.

Black Sheep: believe me, I wanted to love a movie about zombie killer sheep, but it's not quite to the level of expectations. Not a bad film, but certainly an uneven one.

Eagle vs. Shark: now we're talking---the comparisons to Napoleon Dynamite seem apt, but I think that this one would have a much wider appeal. Its characters are, indeed, quirky, but I think that the overall film is actually better than ND.

La Vie en Rose: Marion Cotillard's performance as Edith Piaf was magnificent. Far better than the overly acclaimed Ray.

Bajo Juarez...: documentary about the mysterious killings in the city of Juarez and the efforts to determine why they're happening. Not uplifting, of course, but very well done.

Protagonist: excellent documentary about the lives of four disparate men who faced significant conflict within their respective lives. The story of each one becomes compelling in this wonderful film.

Invisibles: another documentary which shows you again why so many of the 'problems' we face on a daily basis are really so terribly insignificant...

Oh, and, outside the festival, we saw this one, too. Not a good film---rather odd and not that inspired. Just an unusual Japanese porn, really.

So how are you?

Yes. They make me puke even more. I never thought that was possible.

Are you familiar with Mighty O Doughnuts?

vivienne:
Mmm. I've never eaten a doughnut. I really want to eat one! They deliver. Would it be worth having them delivered?
