One of my friends from work came over earlier in the week. We'd planned a night of horror movies.

She had with her a graphic novel that I'd wanted to check out. As I was in the kitchen pouring some iced tea, she announced from the living room "I brought over Preludes and Nocturnes."

I emerged from the kitchen, with a very confused look on my face, and asked "You brought over quaaludes and nachos?"

I really have to stop giving out my recipe for a good time in mixed company.

I'm going to Toronto again this weekend to pick up the parts for my new computer. Unfortunately, neither the shop from which I'm purchasing the system nor anybody else in the GTA seem to have the power supply I want in stock. I'm going to spend some time cruising the shops around College and Spadina to see if somebody has it in (yes, I specifically want this one because it lights up, but I'm trying to pimp the system out), but aside from that, it's going to be basically an in-and-out type of trip. Alas, this means that there are still a bunch of awesome local types (as well as some semi-locals) who I still won't have a chance to go visit.

But I am gonna right that soon, y'all.

I'm going to see the new Resident Evil movie tonight with the crew. Should be zombie-bashing good fun for all.

What are you kids up to?

Update: The movie is horrible. It is so bad that zero stars isn't justice enough. There needs to be some kind of new scoring system... like all other movies are now half a star better just because of how bad this steaming pile of shit is.

Further Update: I'm conquering my Toronto driving phobia bit by bit. I got in, found the power supply I wanted at the first store I went to, and picked up the rest of my computer without any real incident.

I didn't get the video card I ordered (in that I ordered an ATI and got a rebrand), nor did I get an itemized bill. The numbers seem to work out, but it's still a little strange. My new system seems to be largely up and running. I haven't thrown a game at it to see how it handles, but that'll be tomorrow's fun.

Anyways - it's late. I'm tired. Time for a cold beverage and bed. Stay loose.

dholokov:

The Sandman rules. It is the only comic I ever followed. Some people mention it in the same breath as the Watchmen but I think they are sadly mistaken.

I recently got an ATI Radeon 9200, which I am quite enjoying. I'm sure you know this already, but Canada Computers in that area is one of the best, if not the best.

Yeah, the size and service of Canada Computers leave something to be desired.

As said above, the Watchmen is good but not as good as the Sandman. The comic book community thinks that its fabulous because it has superheroes who deal with each other in a mature, sophisticated manner, but I think that should be a starting point, not an end in itself. They way I usually put it is - people who really like comic books will like the Watchmen. Those who don't will like the Sandman.

...and it gets even better after preludes and noctures. the Doll's House is just creeeeepy.
